Meet Mah | Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mah and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Mah, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I believe association is huge especially when first pursing a creative passion. Most of the closest people around me were involved in either music or other similar creative industries. For me, I had always been drawn to music my whole life, from playing guitar in my younger years, to playing saxophone in the jazz band, it was always a huge natural love for the creation and performance of music. Being around people doing something I naturally loved doing made me start taking it serious without even thinking about it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a music producer who specializes in Hip-Hop, R&B, soul & jazz. I’ve also recently started to make house and pop music, which has been really exciting for me as it feels like opening up a whole new creative world. Through my heavy jazz and soul influence, I’ve been able to craft my own sound that is evident no matter what genre I’m creating. I try to set myself apart by taking in the role of a true producer and crafting records with artists, as well as putting together full projects and releasing them under my name. Getting to this point has had it’s ups and downs. I was able to build amazing relationships with people on the way, which I think is the most important thing to building something with longevity. Building a creative career is never easy. It’s filled with rejection, uncertainty, loads of responsibility, and lots of emotions. Staying focused on your long terms goals and never straying from what you want to get out of it is what will keep you going. One of my motivating factors is to be able to create music that will positively affect and inspire all types of people around the world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in LA, the first place we’re going is Tocaya to get some food. That’s a staple for me, great healthy clean boujee Mexican food. I’m a big foodee and so are most of my friends, so we’re going to be eating a lot. We’d have to go down to Legend’s soul food next, IYKYK. Also, Ackee Bamboo for that good Jamaican food. In terms of hanging out it’s always nice to go towards the water and do something there. I feel like we’re blessed here in SoCal with amazing beaches and taking advantage of that nature is something I always appreciate.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give shoutouts to God, to my family who have always been there for me and supported me in whatever goals or dreams I was pursuing and continue to do so. All the artists and producers that I’ve built close relationships and made some special music with are very instrumental to where I’m at today as well. Also, shoutout to all the fans of my music who listen everyday. That’s what really keeps me going is knowing I’m making a positive impact to someone in a way as simple as driving an emotion through music. So for those of you who listen, I appreciate you dearly.
