Meet Luis Garcia Manriquez | Restaurant Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Luis Garcia Manriquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Luis, what do you want your legacy to be?
Our legacy at Carnes Asadas Pancho Lopez is to make you feel at home. We want our customers to feel as if they are walking in to their grandma’s house in Mexico with all the great smells and traditional home cooked meals. Our restaurant is not a location, it is a destination.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
We are a family business, very traditional, and 100% Mexican originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. What sets our restaurant apart is our traditional recipes that we serve in our clay dishes. Just like if you were in a restaurant in Mexico. We are proud of our accomplishments and thankful for our clients that return proudly for our originally good and great service. We are proud of the awards we have received like the Michelin Bib Gourmet Award. two years consecutively, and an award from the University of Guadalajara. Additionally, we have received social media awards and community awards.
A challenge our business has faced mostly consist of things that were out of our control such as, weather conditions and the pandemic. We work very hard to try and navigate the weather conditions as best as we can. Since our restaurant is an open space we adjust to the rain and heat by adding heaters to the patios and fans when the heat rises.
Every day we ensure to taste the food and salsas that are being prepared before serving to ensure that we are serving the plates to the standard that we acquire in our business. Our goal is to have every customer enjoy the food.
We have grown to view our clients like an extension of our Carne Asada Pancho Lopez family. Every time a client leaves happy from the restaurant and returns with a new family member, our family grows. Our goal is to bring a little bit of our Mexican plates to our family here in Lincoln Heights. We want to bring our food to every city around the world, starting in Los Angeles.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend would visit I would take them little Tokyo and China Town. I would take them to the secret garden coffee shop and a taco stand I go to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Carnes Asadas Pancho Lopez would not be here without our clients that come and support our restaurant. Our customers come and enjoy our traditional dishes from Guadalajara like our Carne en su Jugo, Tortas Ahogadas and Tacos de Barbacoa. We would like to thank them.
