Meet Danika Whitsett | Content Creator & Podcast Host

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danika Whitsett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danika, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because I knew that I didn’t want to purse a 9-5 or a ‘normal’ job pretty early on. I always wanted to create, to talk to my followers or friends, to make content, and I’ve never NOT shied away from the norm. I love creating and being myself and showing the world who I am!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am currently a content creator, a dancer on the Rollettes, and a podcast host for my podcast ‘Wheel Hot Girl Sh**’. I’d say what sets me apart from the others is just being authentically myself, with no filter. It took a LOT of work to get to where I am today. Not only did I have to believe in myself every step of the way, but you kind of have to be delusional and push forward if you want your dreams to come true. You have to believe that they’re going to happen even when people cast their doubts, and even when things seem super grim, and that’s what I’ve tried to do always. I’ve overcome challenges as I always have, by remembering that there will be sunnier days ahead. I think losing my mom so young made me realize that every day is a blessing and I’m going to live every second to my fullest potential and be kind to those surrounding me. I want the world to know that I’ve gotten knocked down so many times in my lifetime, but I’ve always believed better was coming, no matter how horrific times were. And I 100% believe that good karma will always come back around to you.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
AH! LA has so many amazing places that I love to go to. My favorite restaurant would have to be between Jinya, the Ramen restaurant in Burbank and Momma Hongs in Burbank as well. The food is DELICIOUS, at both, I’m also a BIG beach girl, so I love to take my friends who are visiting either to Santa Monica or Will Rogers beach for a stroll on the path or the pier. I would also take them out in Weho, because that is my favorite place to dance and go out! I could dance for hours, happily sober. I can’t have friends visit without going to Hollywood Blvd of course, because iconic and it’s a definite must see if you’ve never been here! My friends and I like to go to shows as well, like Jimmy Kimmel or movie premieres.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would LOVE to thank my grandparents, on both sides for always being there for me, supporting me, encouraging me, and helping me out however they can. I’d love to thank my mom, up in heaven, for being there for me even if it’s not physically, I feel her with me everywhere I go and with everything I do. My boyfriend Dominick has consistently supported me, pushed me to reach for the stars, and loved me for the last 5 years through everything life threw our way! And lastly but certainly not least, all of the other “moms” who raised me as their own growing up, all of my wonderful friends that I’m so very blessed with, as well as my team, the Rollettes, for loving me and being some of my biggest cheerleaders. I would be nothing without the love and support around me!
