Meet Alya | Grammy-Winning Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alya and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ALYA, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music has always been my way of expressing myself to the world. I was drawn to music because it allowed me to communicate emotions and stories that go beyond words. Creativity isn’t just about making something beautiful, it’s about connection, transformation, and giving voice to feelings and experiences that might otherwise be overlooked. My journey as an artist is about constantly pushing boundaries, exploring new ways to tell stories, and creating something that resonates on a deeper level.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the things I’m most proud of is how I’ve allowed my creativity to evolve without restriction. It hasn’t always been easy, being an artist means constantly pushing against self-doubt, finding your own voice, and trusting your vision even when the path is unclear (holding on to Hope). But I’ve learned that true artistry comes from embracing change, from being fearless in self-expression, and from creating without the need for validation.
What sets me apart, in part, is the philosophy behind my work. It emerges from passion and purpose. I’ve realized that there is always more to learn at every step, in every aspect of existence, every day, and that inspiration is literally all around you! My biggest themes are identity, metamorphosis, and change, and my song “Hope” is a conglomeration of those themes that aim to feel nostalgic yet modern at the same time. It’s very much an experience personal to me, but one that I hope others can appreciate as well.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love yoga and meditating, so of course, we would have to go to Topanga Canyon for a day among nature, just listening to our hearts speak to us. I’ve really had some deep moments of connection with myself and nature in those kinds of peaceful settings. Following that up with a perfectly made latte, some avocado toast, and a peaceful moment with a good book sounds like heaven. My life is sooo busy with things that I really look forward to the simple moments—that’s what gives me the most fulfillment outside of being on stage.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Of course, I have to thank my family who have supported me and are my constant cheering squad, they are so very wonderful to me. I also have to give recognition to my producer/partner Tim Carmon who made me believe in myself again as an artist. Constantly challenging me and pushing me to grow. He really helped and is helping me shape the artist I’ve become. I also have an incredible team who work to help bring this all together and I wouldn’t be anywhere without them. Last but not least, all the old and new fans that constantly support me on this incredible journey. I’m truly blessed to be surrounded by such great people.
