Meet Jaye Ladymore

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaye Ladymore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaye, what’s one piece of conventional advice that you disagree with?
YOLO – Hear me out! I absolutely believe in living life to the fullest. We do in fact only have one life on this earth and we ought to make the most of it. However, I find that this expression is used more as an excuse to buy that expensive pair of shoes or take that trip that you have no money for and we wonder why we have so much debt. Go on that trip! Treat yourself! Just do it wisely.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
While I grew up in Georgia, most of my adulting and career training was spent in Chicago. After graduating, I set out for the Midwest and boy was that the right move for me! I was immediately immersed in the vibrant theatre scene and couldn’t have asked for better teachers and mentors than the ones I shared the stage with every night. The love for storytelling is so palpable there, and I sharpened my teeth on new works, Shakespeare and modern classics. I learned discipline, dedication, collaboration and a plethora of other vital LIFE skills all on the stage and set. Now that I’m in LA, I have the opportunity to use those skills to create my own work, so writing has become increasingly more important to me these days. I hope to be a light for those who desire to do something so much, whether it be acting, writing or any other creative aspect and show that you can achieve what you put your time and effort into.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Fantastic question and I’m still trying to figure this out for myself! I’d say we’d have to go to Big Bear Lake because I am a winter girl at heart and need snow in my life. After hitting the slopes we’d come back to the city and spend some time at Vibrato Grill because live jazz is always a win. We’d also have to go to Salsa & Beer #2 because WHO DOESN’T LOVE A SALSA BAR?! And at that point we’d be pretty exhausted and come back to my place and play with my pup Bishop. Solid week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe much of my success to my parents, hands down. They never missed a play or a volleyball game, and always encouraged me to go for my dreams. It didn’t hurt that they told me I was smart as well. Some creatives have less than ideal home lives and I have been blessed to have parents who fully support me in any endeavor I choose. They encouraged me to pursue new passions as well, so to anyone I’ve talked with that has a better understanding of their finances, they can thank my parents.
