Meet Ally Ferguson | Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ally Ferguson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ally, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
After spending years in the fashion industry – my philosophy is simply staying in the game. The highs and lows of running a brand vary from day to day. One day you can land the editorial of a life time with a dream magazine, which makes you feel on top of the world and the contrast is then weeks can go by where you don’t hear a thing. The success buzz offers a natural high, but what do you do with yourself to make it through the less vibrant moments is what matters in this industry. As a creative my internal dialog loves to speak up when things get quiet. Keep your head in the game and learn to meditate.

What should our readers know about your business?
Seeker is a Unisex Organic Hemp Clothing brand that is Made in L.A. with intention. This daily effortless uniform speaks a language to the world that tends to open conversation, encourage praise and build community. We make clothing that not only looks good but it also makes you feel good in the process. That has been the greatest blessing in the creation of this brand is that it promotes psychological well being as a by product whether that arrives via praise from a passer by or just a feeling of acceptance. The visual output of our wears is like a hug – whilst still being unique. Building a successful company has had real challenges. Its like a ride that you are struggling to hang on while it only seems to be moving more swiftly. Throttling it’s growth is really part of the mastery. You must be strategic in the partnerships you agree on. You must be able to deliver and the only way I have found that to be possible is by keeping the company lean and nimble. I said yes to big partnership such as ASOS and Free People which at the time I wasn’t totally sure how to pull off financially but choosing to keep the company small and outsource what I can made it a dream come true. I am so grateful to have such incredible support in the vision of Seeker since day one and even though it hasn’t always been easy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
BFF! Lets go! How about we test your water skills with a Surf at Topanga and after we should snag coffee and a treat at Great White in Venice. While we are there lets shop Abbot Kinney and have dinner at Gjelina. Tomorrow lets take a Hike up to the Griffith Observatory and grab lunch at Home State. Their breakfast tacos are so delicious. How about we pop into Unplugged for a breath work and sound bath session. Then Dinner and drinks at Stella and Lets top is off with a Dance it out at Zebulon. Last I would like to take you to my studio store in the DTLA arts district for a private shopping experience, grab a light dinner at Bestia and then off to chant Kirtan and dance with me and 100 of my new closest friends at Bhakti Yoga Shala.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people who have guided me and given me a chance through this process. I would have to say the writings that compelled all of my achievements are by Paramahansa Yogananda. When I was 21 I received a small book of his called “Focusing the Power of Attention for Success”. Every time I picked up that little book I would see it directly change the course of my life. It’s been a treasure of mine and is what inspired me to name the brand “Seeker”. You can see the influence throughout the brand which I hope our customer feels when finally snagging a piece of Seeker for themselves.
