We had the good fortune of connecting with Salana Sims and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Salana, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Keyanta Koils was launched after experiencing years of androgenic alopecia. I searched high and low for a solution to reduce the inflammation, itching and hair loss. Androgenic alopecia is a pattern hair loss that causes someone to lose hair unexpectedly. After researching and testing natural ingredients, I created the perfect blends of oils, put in a 4oz bottle and gave it my middle name Keyanta. Although there’s no cure for alopecia, Keyanta Koils hair growth oil relieves itching, flare-ups and inflammation while promoting hair growth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Keyanta Koils was launched in March 2018, in June 2018 we were selected to be apart of the BET awards pre show giveaways where we sent over one hundred bottles of our hair growth oil to be added to the gift bags. That same year in November, I was a vendor at the natural hair expo where I met the manager of the Girl Cave beauty supply and gave her some products, February 2019 I was in that beauty supply. What sets me apart from anyone else is that I’ve worked in sales for over fifteen years and have the ability to build a great relationships and communicate effectively with people in general. I’m proud to be able to share my product with others who experience similar issues and hear to about their progress. To know that I’ve created something with purpose and passion gives me the confidence and motivation to keep working and growing my business.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was to visit, I would start with a home cooked meal and drinks at my house for her first night. We will spend the week visiting our friends and family, I’ll take her to Venice Beach to bury our feet in the sand, we’ll hit up some bars in Hollywood and eat some Mexican food at La Barca’s restaurant. A Mary J Blige concert will be on the itinerary for the night along with a good steak from Ruth Chris.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to Shout out my mother Lillie Sims, whom I lost last year, my children and the Keyanta Koils community for their generosity and support.
