Meet Dominic King | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominic King and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominic, why did you pursue a creative career?
I chose a creative career because it allows me to do what I truly love. When I’m creating — whether it’s bringing ideas to life, solving problems in innovative ways, or expressing a vision — it never feels like work. It’s a process that excites and inspires me, pushing me to grow and explore new possibilities. The joy and fulfillment I get from creating make this path not just a career, but a passion.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lately, I’ve been focused on a series of sketch-like works where I’m blending a range of ideas and scenes to create one cohesive, larger vision. I’ve been experimenting with different materials, pushing myself to explore where they can take me and how they shape the story I’m trying to tell.

What I’m most proud of, though, is my commitment to the journey — my ability to stay consistent and dedicated, even when no one’s watching. Believing in myself, staying true to my vision, and inspiring others through my work are the things that drive me. Knowing that kids who grew up like me — who look like me — can see my art and find motivation in it makes me incredibly proud.

I don’t believe there’s any secret formula for success. It comes from showing up, putting in the work day in and day out, and staying disciplined. It’s not easy — and that’s exactly why not everyone does it. But if you’re willing to stay focused and put in the effort, the results will follow.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Food wise it depends on where we are but art shows would definitely be on the to do list

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
