Meet Jose Elias Ortega | Driving Instructor & Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Elias Ortega and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jose Elias, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think about risk often. Risk definitely played a huge role in my life which had made me who I am today. Once I turned 18 years old I moved out of my parent’s house across the states to Atlanta Georgia. I basically had like $100 dollars in my account and still took the risk of moving out not knowing anything about the world, no job experience, no drivers license, no plan, just myself and some friends. I’ve had multiple jobs always looking for something better risking if the next job is actually better or not. So from the age of 18 if I didn’t take that risk I don’t know where I’d be. So from 1 risk being made I make sure to keep taking risk. As of now I know the biggest risk will eventually be to quit my full time job and fully focusing on the photography business. Just because I know it can grow.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would say what sets us apart from others would be that we like to try new things unlike others who strictly stick to just one thing. If we have never done a certain form of photography or videography we will be willing to do it and to learn to build a new skill to expand our clientele.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A specific place I would take my friend would definitely be a spot in the valley called MicheXGod. They sell really good Mexican seafood. But if we had to go to a place it’ll be more nature environment. Going to the canyon’s, the beach, parks, hikes looking for views. If it got dark we would definitely go to Hollywood and bar hop it’s always awesome hearing different kinds of music trying out new places and being around different environments.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
So I started doing photography in the year 2020 and I didn’t take more seriously until the year 2023 the time I met my current girlfriend soon to be my wife. So I would dedicate that to Jazmin but also my son Rudy. They both motivate me to do better for me but more importantly them.
