Meet Megan Foster | Portrait and Fashion Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Megan Foster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Megan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I have always been interested in art and creative outlets for as long as I can remember. I first got a hold of a proper camera when I was around 11 or 12 and I remember going out and taking photos of nature and animals. I ended up getting one of those photos printed and I remember how proud I felt in that moment. That’s what pushed me to keep going.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think one of the main things that sets me apart from others is that I don’t particularly have a set style of my photography. Some portrait photographers have very recognizable and distinct styles – which is still great. But, I think being versatile and flexible can help set me apart because I am able to adapt easily to a client’s wants or needs, rather than sticking to one style.
I am most proud of the work I have done over the last year, in fashion photography. I was able to attend five different fashion shows all around the world and photograph incredible designers. I also met so many amazing artists, designers, and models.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, I recently took a friend around LA, so let’s follow that itinerary! There are two great options for breakfast/brunch: Malibu Farm for farm-to-table beachside food and Modern Bread and Bagel for gluten free options. If you’re looking to have tacos for lunch after, then head to Guisados for the the best handmade tacos in LA! For some shopping, I recommend It’s A Wrap for some as-seen-on-tv thrifting or Crossroads for high-quality thrifting. For unique and tasty coffee, you could check out Horror Vibes Coffee. And finally, for a tourist site that is not on a usual itinerary – check out the Old LA Zoo or take a car around Mulholland Drive in Beverly Hills.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shoutout my sister, Ashley Foster, for always helping me along the way in my career. Whether it’s photos of her brand or connecting me to other models, she always been a great support. I will also always give a shoutout to actress and model, Stephanie Heiner, for being my first ever model and continuing to work with me and support me through all these years.
