We had the good fortune of connecting with Bad Gyal Rozay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Bad Gyal, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Rooted in my Jamaican heritage, creativity isn’t just a passion, it’s my essence. From an early age, I knew I was destined to share the fire of my culture with the world. Dancehall pulses through my soul, Afrobeats fuels my rhythm, and together they inspire my artistic journey. But beyond the music and movement, it’s about empowerment, owning my voice, my energy, and my space as a woman in a bold unapologetic way. I want to inspire other women to embrace their power, their confidence, and their culture fearlessly. My mission is to ensure our sound, our style, and our spirit continue to shape the world on our terms, one bold step at a time.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my roots, my energy, and my love for music and movement. What sets me apart is the way I blend Dancehall and Afrobeats, not just as genres, but as a whole lifestyle, a statement, and a force. It’s about more than just entertainment; it’s about power, confidence, and taking up space. When I step into a room, when my music plays, when I move, people *feel* it. That’s the *bad gyal* energy I bring every time.

I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to stay true to myself while growing and evolving in this space. Sharing my culture on a bigger stage, seeing people embrace it, and knowing I’m part of something bigger than myself, that’s what excites me the most. But beyond that, I love empowering women to own their confidence, to be bold, to move how they want, and take up space without apology.

Getting here wasn’t easy. There were moments of doubt, times when doors didn’t open, and times when I had to create my own opportunities. But every challenge just made me go harder. I stayed consistent, kept pushing, and surrounded myself with people who believed in me. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you have to trust your vision, even when others don’t see it yet.

At the end of the day, my brand is about more than just music and dance, it’s about culture, empowerment, and energy. I’m here to represent where I come from, uplift the vibes, and make sure the world *feels* the fire of dancehall and Afrobeats in a way they never have before.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my bestie was visiting, we’d kick things off with some sunshine at Venice Beach and boardwalk vibes. Next, we’d grab breakfast at The Original Pantry, explore The Broad, and enjoy rooftop cocktails. We’d hike Runyon Canyon, have lunch at The Griddle Cafe, and chill at Echo Park Lake. After some culture at The Getty and LACMA, we’d treat ourselves to dinner at Bestia. On Saturday, we’d vibe at The Jungle in Hollywood for Afrobeats night. For late-night snacks, we’d swing by LA Cafe for some comfort food. We’d finish the week with shopping at Melrose and Santa Monica before wrapping it all up with a night out at No Vacancy. Perfect mix of fun, food, and good vibes!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to Blaq Pages and his brand *Enjoyment Worldwide* for giving me a platform to grow, shine, and share my culture and love for music with Los Angeles. He has always been supportive and inspiring in the way he carves a space for Afro-Caribbean culture in LA and across the US. Through *Enjoyment Worldwide*, he continues to uplift our sounds, our artists, and our heritage, creating a movement that celebrates who we are on a global scale. Big love and endless respect!
