We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittny Burford and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittny, can you tell us about a book that has had a meaningful impact on you?
Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People” has been the #1 book for being the guiding handbook of my professional career and building my real estate business. This book was written nearly 100 years ago but the values and principles that it discusses are timeless and true. Be a good listener, make the other person feel important, give honest & sincere appreciation, focus on your customer’s needs and wants, be genuinely interested in others and SMILE!

What should our readers know about your business?
I’ve been a residential realtor focusing on the South Bay cities and surrounding areas since 2009. My real estate career started in the middle of the recession and when I was a small business owner of Paciugo Gelato in Hermosa Beach. This timing and unique business experience catapulted my career to where it is today as I immersed myself into learning the local market, networked with the local agents and fellow businesses, and learned the real estate practices from my mentors. Therefore, I was primed and ready to grow my business as the real estate market rebounded from the recession and has not slowed down since then.
Over the years I have developed and marketed my brand, Burford Beach Homes, into who I am as a realtor, mom, wife, volunteer, business owner, and South Bay local and lover of our beautiful beach community. I work with a variety of buyers and sellers and mostly families looking to buy their first home, move up to their next home, or relocate. My motto is “I would never put you in a home I wouldn’t put my own family in”. I deeply care about my clients’ goals and I take the time to learn about what their needs and wants are. I also strive to be the realtor you want to work with, not just with my own clients but within our realtor community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I would take her for a tour of my favorite restaurants, shops, and local places to visit. We would take my golf cart down to the Riviera Village and grab a morning coffee from Hifi Espresso, then a stroll on the Esplanade to look for dolphins and enjoy the coastline views. For lunch, we would head up to Hermosa Beach for more cruising around the Pier area and the Strand, stop for shopping and lunch at Gumtree Cafe or Martha’s on 22nd. I’d also love to go paddle boarding in King Harbor or take her up to Terranea Resort for a hike along the rugged coastline of the Palos Verdes Peninsula with my dogs and then a cocktail at Nelson’s for the sunset. For dinner, we’d visit the Riviera Village again and have a delicious dinner at Gabi James or Beachlife Grotto then top it off with dessert at Handel’s ice cream or a night cap at the Fox Den. You really can’t go wrong with any spot you visit and hang out in the South Bay, it’s like we are on vacation everyday!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, everyone that I have met along the way has impacted my professional career! From my college years at Arizona State University obtaining my marketing degree from the business college, to my first couple corporate jobs after college, to then making the leap of faith becoming a small business owner and entrepreneur in opening Paciugo Gelato Caffe in Hermosa Beach in 2008, and now with 16+ years of residential real estate experience with Shorewood Realtors and Estate Properties. This incredible journey I have been on isn’t from just one person, organization, or group that I have been a part of, it’s from ALL of them! I’m beyond grateful for all the lessons I’ve learned, the mentors I’ve had, and experiences I have cherished and grown from over the years. Thank you to everyone I have had the pure pleasure and honor of working with, working for, serving, experiencing highs and lows, and celebrating our wonderful community and lifestyle we work so hard to live in!
