Today we’re excited to be connecting with Jack Nunn again. If you haven’t already, we suggest you check out our prior conversation with them here.

Jack , thanks for joining us again. Just to level set a bit for folks who may have missed our last interview together, can you briefly introduce yourself?
My name is Jack Nunn and I was featured twice in voyage and shoutout LA as a fitness professional who owns an indoor rowing studio called Roworx Fitness in Long Beach, Ca. We offer fitness classes on the rowing machine that overlooks marine stadium in Long Beach, site of the 1932 LA Olympic Games Rowing Venue and future site of the 2028 LA Olympics rowing venue. I opened Roworx fitness in 2008 and since being featured in your articles I have broadened my knowledge to now offer rowing coaching on the water. In 2022 I was hired by Apple Television to be the lead rowing trainer/ rowing consultant on the hit show ‘Lessons In Chemistry.’ I worked closely with Academy Award Winner actress Brie Larson, supporting actors Lewis Pullman, and Marc Evan Jackson while coaching them how to row in a boat on the water for various scenes in the show. I was hired in the fall of 2024 to be the head rowing coach at Loyola Marymount University in LA as well as coaching masters rowing programs for adults at LA Rowing Club And Long Beach Rowing Association. I would say what sets myself apart from other coaches in the rowing world is that I was fortunate enough to be coached by my father all throughout my life. My father, John Nunn, was a bronze medalist for the USA in the double sculls rowing event in the 68’ Mexico City Olympic Games and was the 76’ Montreal Olympic Games Team USA Rowing sculling coach.

Awesome, so we reached out because we wanted to hear all about what you have been up to since we last connected.
Recently, my mornings have been dedicated to coaching collegiate, masters, and junior rowers on the water between Marina del Rey and Long Beach. I am honored to be affiliated with three rowing programs, including serving as the head rowing coach at Loyola Marymount University and working with athletes of all ages at the LA Rowing Club and Long Beach Rowing Association. This is my first year coaching masters athletes, and I absolutely love the experience. I enjoy creating a fun and positive environment while helping athletes maximize each training session.

My ultimate goal is to share my rowing knowledge and experience with a broader audience. Having been coached by some of the most renowned Olympic and collegiate rowing coaches, I feel a deep responsibility to give back to the community by passing on that expertise in an engaging and effective way.

We also want to give folks a chance to get to know you a bit better so we’ve prepared a fun lightning round of questions. Ready?
