We had the good fortune of connecting with Aspen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aspen, why did you pursue a creative career?
I feel that for me it wasn’t really even a choice. I’ve always been doing it, it just took facing the fact it is what I want in life. To choose a career in art can be scary due to the uncertainty, but for me it would be so much scarier to live with the regret of wondering what if. I do it despite all the gamble because it’s apart of who I am.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It’s my mission to become the first person to play music everywhere; all over the globe. I want to be able to combine culture and music to connect our divided world.
I wanna bring back the hippie ideals. Nature, love, and music.
I write constantly, every single day, not with a goal in mind, but rather the words just kind of pour out my brain onto the page. I can’t lie to my notes app. It knows everything about me, even what I won’t admit out loud. I think one of the most powerful human emotions is empathy, and I believe if I pair my poetry with music full of intention, then I will always be doing what I love, and hope other people can find happiness in it as well.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh goodness. I think the recipe would need to include some good art, good eats, and some good nature. We’d definitely need to hit up the local record store and vintage shops. You can always find the same things in the major stores, so you gotta dig for some hidden gems. I found this one view overlooking the ocean, surrounded by botanical garden. I’d probably set up a picnic and do some crafts there! Some pickles and some painting and a happy little playlist. When we get hungry, we would find another local mom and pop’s diner, or a food truck. Somewhere where the food is made with love. I’m a little bit of an adrenaline junky too, so maybe we’d do something to spark that interest, like sky dive or some rafting, or even rollercoasters.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to every artist before me who has pushed the limits; Who has been told to be quiet and conform. Thank goodness you didn’t, because your innovation paved the way for all we have and continue to create, and I commend you for it.
