Hi Simon, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my own garage door repair company because I saw a real need for honest, reliable service in the industry. I had experience working for other companies and kept noticing how often customers were overcharged or given poor-quality work. I wanted to build something different — a company built on trust, quality craftsmanship, and real customer care. Plus, I always had that entrepreneurial drive. I wanted the freedom to create something of my own, set my own standards, and take pride in the work we deliver every single day.

Getting to where we are today wasn’t easy. Like most small business journeys, we started with very limited resources — just a truck, a set of tools, and a lot of determination. There were times when we questioned if we could make it through, especially during the early days when every job felt like survival. But through hard work, word of mouth, and treating every customer like family, the business started to grow.

We faced challenges — from tough competition to unreliable vendors and the constant pressure of managing both service quality and business logistics. But we never compromised on doing things the right way. That’s been our biggest lesson: consistency and integrity pay off in the long run.

What I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve earned in the New Orleans community. We’ve become a go-to name for garage door repairs, and that means a lot. We’re excited about expanding our team, continuing to provide top-notch service, and hopefully inspiring other small businesses to stick with it.

For me, that credit goes first and foremost to my father. I’ve learned so much from him over the years — not just through his words, but through his actions, values, and work ethic. To this day, I still use his advice and rely on his guidance in every one of my businesses. His mentorship has been a cornerstone of my journey, and I’m incredibly grateful for the foundation he gave me. This shoutout is for him.
