We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerome Cleary and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerome, what matters most to you?
With public relations, storytelling is the most important part of publicity for a client. How can we convey the story in a way that makes anyone interested and want to know more.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I was originally trained in the medical, health, fitness, and beauty field as a publicist and then branched out to entertainment, products, authors, sports, experts, and lifestyle PR. It was somewhat easy in the beginning, and then I had to overcome going out and getting my first real client. I did it by just diving in, and I learned on the job. The most important part I want people to know is that you can find the right angle by creating the story you think everyone needs to hear.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friend to Santa Monica to see the beach and drive up the coast. We would grab a great seafood dinner in Malibu and go shopping in Beverly Hills. Take them on the TMZ tour bus and up to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We could hang out in Manhattan Beach and go to the pier in Redondo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to recognize my friend and former boss, Maureen Kedes, because if it were not for her, I would not have gotten into becoming a publicist. I began helping her out part-time when she began her PR firm and learned the whole public relations business from the ground up.
