Meet Jorge Lopez | Audio Visual Specialist, CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jorge Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jorge, what is the most important factor behind your success?
My ability to assess or discover talent has been one of the most important factors in our success. I really enjoy being able to see the possibilities and potential in people and opening their eyes to these new opportunities.
Many times that includes people who have never worked in our audio/visual or production industry.
This is not just technical or event skills but personal attributes such as work ethic, people skills, friendly demeanor, a desire to learn and take on new challenges.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am extremely proud of our company culture and the connection our employees have with each other. This real enjoyment to work and grow together has a positive impact our our client’s events.
I personally am passionate about recruiting young team members to our company and helping them grow their technical knowledge and event production experience but also their personal development.
It’s so satisfying to have clients rave about how respectful and caring our AV technicians are for example when our staff responds with “My pleasure”.
Over my 45 years in this business, I’ve learned that maintaining a consistent quality and standard to the experience we deliver to our clients is a key to our success. That said, one of my favorite lessons I’ve learned is “The glass is already broken”. This refers to the philosophy that if I accept that the eventual destiny a glass object is be be broken one day, then I am not shocked or frustrated when it eventually happens.
Every person we bring on to our team will leave at some point. It may be in 10 years, or 6 months. Rather than becoming frustrated by this, we celebrate the time they were here and hope they learned things while here that will have a positive impact on their lives moving forward.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Dodger stadium because I’m a huge fan! We would also plan a visit to the Santa Monica or Huntington Beach pier.
Most importantly, we would map out a food tour to enjoy some of the exceptional food and culture LA has to offer. This would include El Tepeyac in LA, Panzanella in Studio City, Bob’s Big Boy in Burbank, the Crustacean in Beverly Hills.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Tony Robbins had a significant impact on my personal and business life by understanding my limiting beliefs.
Without being aware of it, my parents taught me about taking risks and ability to embrace change and adventure.
