We had the good fortune of connecting with Desiree Kitsmiller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Desiree, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success has been the way I was raised. My upbringing taught me the value of working hard to achieve my goals and staying consistent no matter what. That foundation shaped everything—from how I show up for myself to how I build long-term relationships and keep pushing forward, even when things get tough.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career is a unique blend of two passions: healthcare and creativity. I’m a content creator and a physician associate, and while those roles might seem very different, they actually complement each other in powerful ways. What sets me apart is my ability to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and everyday life—whether I’m educating, inspiring, or simply sharing moments that connect with others.

Becoming a physician associate required discipline, resilience, and a strong desire to help people. That same mindset carries over into my work as a creator. I bring intention to everything I share, whether it’s promoting wellness, showcasing products I truly believe in, or opening up about real-life experiences.

It hasn’t always been easy juggling both paths. There were long days, self-doubt, and learning curves. But my upbringing taught me to work hard for what I want and to be consistent no matter what. That’s what got me through—showing up every day with purpose and trusting that effort would pay off.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit me in Guildford, I’d make sure they had the absolute best time soaking in everything this charming town (and nearby spots) has to offer! I moved here from Florida five years ago, and since then, Guildford has truly become home—it’s a perfect mix of historic charm, beautiful countryside, and a surprisingly cool food and coffee scene.

Day 1: Welcome to Guildford
We’d start with a relaxing walk along the River Wey and wander through the cobbled High Street. Lunch at The Ivy Castle View—the views of Guildford Castle Gardens are stunning. For dinner, we’d go to Olivo for some incredible Italian food, and maybe grab a nightcap at The March Hare—super cozy vibes.

Day 2: A Little Culture & Shopping
We’d explore Guildford Castle, then visit the House of Fraser for some retail therapy. Coffee break at Krema Coffee (the flat white is chef’s kiss), and maybe hit up Turtle Bay for Caribbean food and cocktails—feels like a little slice of my Florida roots.

Day 3: Nature Day
We’d hike through the Surrey Hills AONB—maybe Box Hill or Newlands Corner—and enjoy a scenic picnic. Later, we’d treat ourselves to dinner at Positano for that family-run, tucked-away vibe.

Day 4: London Day Trip
Only about 35 minutes by train, so we’d head into London for the day! Breakfast at Dishoom, museums or markets depending on the mood, then sunset drinks at Sky Garden. Back to Guildford by night for some chill time.

Day 5: Spa + Chill
We’d have a spa day at Guildford Harbour Hotel & Spa—much needed downtime. Maybe grab lunch at The Tea Terrace (hello Instagram-worthy teacups), and a relaxed evening binge-watching something with snacks and face masks.

Day 6: Pub Crawl Vibes
We’d explore some of my fave pubs like The Keep, The Britannia, and The Weyside by the river. I’d make it a themed night—maybe something like “British classics” night with all the fish & chips and Pimm’s we can handle.

Day 7: Sunday Roast & Goodbyes
We’d end the week with a traditional Sunday roast at The Drummond or The Onslow Arms. A slow walk through Stoke Park, soaking it all in before they head back.

Guildford has this low-key magic about it—it’s peaceful, but with enough going on to keep things exciting. The people are lovely, the scenery is unreal, and the mix of old English charm with a modern edge makes it such a special place to share with someone.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
And a special shoutout to @musicbynoozi—their music has been the soundtrack to so many creative sessions, late-night edits, and moments of inspiration. There’s something about their sound that just helps me lock in, stay grounded, and feel inspired to keep going.
