We had the good fortune of connecting with Hilary Lentini and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hilary, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Always saying “Yes” to opportunities that come my way, especially those that scare me! Asking the follow-up question, and the follow-up question after that, and after that (and after that!). Loving learning — every day. Listening to others; which often leads to the best ideas. Working hard. Connecting with people.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a classic “Hollywood” experience, I’d bring my bestie to The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. My husband and I have been members since the beginning, and there is always a great new exhibit there along with their wonderful ongoing ones. And their monthly screenings program is smartly curated and my pal would love seeing a screening in the David Geffen Theatre. While we were there, we’d stop into Fanny’s on the ground floor for their “worlds’ Best Martini” and they’re right! My home and business are both in Historic West Adams and since I like to support our small, local businesses here, we’d then go to a great local restaurant: Re/creation Cafe. The vibe is warm and welcoming, and the food is delish. Plus if my friend wanted to create a painting while we were there, she could! The next day, we’d hike in Griffith Park. It’s great exercise, not strenuous, and the views are gorgeous. If my friend is staying a week, we’d also be sure to visit The Grove, take a dusk time drive up Mulholland (best views in the city), and walk the beach in Santa Monica and then shop Mail Street. And we’d also go back to Museum Row to check out the new LACMA, and the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Being involved with NAWBO — the National Association of Women Business Owners. Insight I gained from my fellow members gave me the impetus to up level my business. It also taught me leadership. NAWBO gave me leadership opportunities that made a difference in my life. I lead my team better now thanks to NAWBO. Also, it taught me that I’m passionate about women in leadership and the crafting of public policy. It’s become another mission of mine, besides growing my firm, Lentini Design & Marketing, to make a positive difference for women business owners in this state. To change the playing field for us so that we gain equal access to opportunity.
