Meet Elena Nairi Mirzaians | Web Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Nairi Mirzaians and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elena Nairi, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I never thought I’d start my own business. I kind of fell into it out of necessity.
I had been working in tech managing projects and programs for 10+ years. My last job was leading Hulu’s technology operations team- it was my dream job. We built viewer-first experiences, always putting people before profits. It was a culture of innovation, and I thrived in it.
Then Disney acquired us, and everything changed. The core values that made Hulu Hulu disappeared. Decisions no longer started with the viewer; they started with shareholders. That shift drained my excitement for the work, and I left—burned out and exhausted.
After taking time to recover, I tried getting back into the tech industry in 2023. But the job market had changed. I had an impressive resume, yet I was barely getting HR screenings, even with internal referrals. Job postings would disappear, only to reopen later. Rejection emails would come months after applying—sometimes for jobs I was never even interviewed for. They were ghost positions, fakes.
It took me two quarters of this game to realize the truth: I was waiting for permission to work.
That’s when I decided to take things into my own hands. I knew I wanted freedom of location, time and finance. A simple business helps others and that sustains the lifestyle I want to live.
So I started my own consulting business. That was a year and a half ago—and I haven’t looked back.

What should our readers know about your business?
I run Wise Web Ops, where I help businesses—especially those starting out—hit the ground running by building authority, credibility, and visibility online.
What makes us different? We’re not a marketing agency—we’re technologists who understand branding and communication. Instead of pushing ads, we start by telling a brand’s authentic story, positioning our clients to be found organically by the right people at the right time. This approach is rooted in my career in tech and my master’s degree in communication management.
As for lessons learned, there are so many, but to keep things short…
Fail fast, adapt faster. The tech industry taught me that agility beats perfection.
Keep it simple. Complexity doesn’t convert—clarity does.
Stay authentic. The right clients and opportunities come when you lead with integrity.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
LA is incredible because it’s something different for everyone. As someone born and raised in LA, this one is really tough for me to really pin point because growing up it was just home, I didn’t realize until I was older what a special place it really is.
In-N-Out as a no-brainer any day.
For a day on the west side, a Godmother from Bay Cities on the beach, then biking from Santa Monica to Venice. Margaritas at Blue Plate Taco at sunset.
For culture, The Getty, Griffith Observatory, and the LA Arboretum never disappoint. Hiking at Dukmejian Park or Point Mugu for unbeatable views.
For live music, I’ll check out the line-up at Hollywood Bowl or try to find an open mic night somewhere like The Troubadour. This might date me but I really miss the Knitting Factory, I remember sneaking in there as a teenager. Oh must stop over at Fred 62 for a late night bite.
More food: Raffi’s Place in Glendale for the best kebab and a shoutout to Old Fashion Deli in my hometown, Glendale—because Bay Cities isn’t the only legendary deli around. And for a laid-back hangout, Golden Road Brewery is always a solid choice.
What else, hopefully can catch a game somewhere feels like we have so many stadiums now. If not maybe a movie at LA Live—or if you want full-on fun, Universal Studios is always a good time.
And last but not least, it might be cheesy and everyone will laugh at me but those red double decker tours are awesome, because you don’t need to drive, you see everything and you learn about all the fun facts.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Great question. I have two shoutouts.
First, my parents. They both immigrated to LA. That came with lots of challenges and they both made huge sacrifices so that I could find success and live a life in pursuit of my happiness. I owe everything to them.
Second, I have to say Shellie Miller. She’s the one that brought me onboard to Hulu. I went from running regular IT projects to leading cutting edge and truly innovative projects that were the USAs top streaming company’s top priority. She gave me not only my dream job but also my financial freedom. Her impact on my life is immense and I’ll always be thankful to her.
