Meet Diego Scarparo | Movie Director & Creative Developer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diego Scarparo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diego, why did you pursue a creative career?

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I like telling stories. Everyone’s story fascinates me. What we do with the limited time we have while we’re alive is a question for me. Time itself is a question for me.
Cinema and video came as a way to express this, to tell stories, to tell lives within a limited number of minutes.
It wasn’t easy, remembering that Brazil doesn’t have a “career plan” or a film industry. And what we do have is reserved for large urban centers (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), where competition is very high.
I’m a generalist professional. I work on various projects, collaborating with scripts, production, direction, and when I get the funding, I make my own films as a director.
I like to pay the team a good salary, and they almost always respond very well, which makes me excited to make the next film.
What I would like you to know about my story is what I wish for so many filmmakers in the same situation: There are good professionals all over the world, telling their stories and contributing to the great art of cinema.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this to my mother, Ângela Scarparo, who never doubted me, and to the people who believe in my work and support me, whether at work or in my personal life. I also curate festivals around the world, and I almost always get good feedback, so thank you all.
