We had the good fortune of connecting with Down Time and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Down Time, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk is everything! We love risk. Without it there is no challenge. We take risk when we write a song and share it, when we book a show, when we moved to LA to shake things up in 2021.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Down Time is a collaboration of 3 friends over the last 10 years. We make music that feels good and we want our listeners to feel the same; cozy, safe, familiar. We are proud to still be making music! It’s a hard road and you don’t do it this long unless you love it. It has been challenging to stay focused and motivated over these years simply because it’s a hobby. We all have other sources of income and it’s easy to put DT on the back burner. We overcome this challenge by coming back to “center” often. Our “center” is the joy of creating together. There’s nothing better than jamming a new idea and feeling that magical energy that comes from a collective experience. We want to share our music with you! We want you to know that there is beauty in the small things if only you take a moment to stop and smell the roses.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oooh! We would go for a drink at Capri Club in highland park and a walk on the LA river at sunset. Grab dinner at Spoke, check out crystals at Hot spells. Maybe out to Topanga for a hike the next day and pizza at Endless Color. Breakfast at Honey Hi and the beach, LACMA and an art opening. A show or two at Permanent records and PRS. Many walks around Silverlake hills where we live. We could go to Griffith for some views with a morning hike and we would def hit a farmers market and make a homemade feast.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our dedicated listeners and literally our Moms. We all have really supportive parents who have encouraged us to be artists our whole lives.
