We had the good fortune of connecting with June Quan, Esq. and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi June, is there something you believe many others might not?
“Don’t mix business with family..”
That’s advice that I’ve heard a lot and people say it like it’s a guaranteed mess, but for me, building a business with my husband for our family has been one of the most meaningful things I’ve done. My husband and I both come from parents who worked together and we’ve both seen firsthand how it can be done successfully.

Working with my husband means that we’re in the loop about what is going on in each other’s departments and tasks, which makes it easier to juggle being business partners, husband and wife, and parents to our 5 kids under 5. We know when the other needs to step in, when urgent matters arise, and what it’ll take to make sure everything and everyone stays moving and flowing.

Mixing business with family also means that we never really turn off work. There are blurred lines, emotional moments, and a lot of late night talks. But there’s also trust, shared motivation, and a deeper sense of purpose.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our matcha-centric brand, Junbi, is making high quality matcha accessible to the masses, delivering pure, clean energy to our community layered with real fruit purees and unique natural ingredients. We are a fast-growing franchise serving our proprietary blends of ceremonial grade matcha from our 100+ year old farm in Uji, Japan, the matcha capital of the world. We currently have 14 locations across the US from Waikiki, HI to Princeton, NJ and are slated to grow to over 20 locations in 2025.

My husband (then boyfriend) and I started in 2017 with our partners Anna and Jeremy, who are also a married couple. It has not been a straight or easy road as we started out of a tent at Smorgasburg LA running mobile events all over including night markets and Coachella. We were so grateful to receive investments, invaluable advice from experts, and to grow our brand to brick and mortar locations nationwide. After franchising, we have found so much fulfillment in guiding and serving our franchisees to help them create their own thriving business.

All the hard work, sacrifices, and sleepless nights are worth it when we see our customers fueled by Junbi and watch our franchisees become the go-to matcha spot in their communities.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shoutout my parents who have believed in me since Day 1.
