We had the good fortune of connecting with Laura Shepard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Laura, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal with my profession would be to have created beautiful tangible memories for all my clients.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My clients often tell me how much they love the way I make them feel—not just during our photo sessions, but even when we’re chatting on the phone or just hanging out after a shoot. That kind of feedback means so much to me. I love knowing that people feel good and comfortable around me.

When it comes to the photos themselves, I really try to create images that are timeless—not just trendy. I think that mix of genuine connection and lasting style is a big part of what makes my work and brand unique.

Getting to where I am in my career definitely didn’t happen overnight. It’s taken years of growth, refining my craft, meeting the right people, and putting myself out there—especially on social media. I’ve spent a lot of time (and money!) learning and building my business so I can give my clients the best possible experience and imagery.

What I really want people to know is how grateful I am to do what I do. Every time I get to document real life with my clients, it truly feels like an honor.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
love taking vacations and traveling—even if it’s just a staycation! If I had friends visiting, I’d totally take them all around Southern California, starting in LA. First stop would be Santa Monica—we’d walk the pier (you have to do that), then head to the promenade for some shopping. After that, we’d cruise over to Beverly Hills, drive down Rodeo Drive, and of course, stop by Erewhon to try the Hailey Bieber smoothie. Then we’d just stroll around and take in the city.

I’m a big beach person, so we’d spend a couple of days beach-hopping. Venice Beach is a must—it’s such a vibe.
And we have to stop at the original Randy’s Donuts. That place is iconic!

We’d also make our way down to Orange County—Newport, Huntington, and Laguna Beach are all on the list. For dinner, we’d definitely hit up Joey’s in Newport Beach, right by Fashion Island. The food is amazing and the vibe is so fun.

And of course, we can’t skip Disneyland. We’d spend a full day there and hit both parks—it’s a long day, but you can’t come to SoCal and not do Disneyland!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d say the person that definitely is the main reason I have been able to do what Ido would be my husband. Without his encouragement & full support I would not have had the courage to get started almost 14 years ago, & he continues to be a huge support & one of my biggest fans.
