We had the good fortune of connecting with Faith and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Faith, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
My end goal in life is to be a successful film director. I want to be able to inspire other women to follow their dreams of working I t he film industry. If I have motivated at least one audience member, through a film I have worked on, to live their dream I will have succeeded in life.
My goal is important because I hope when I have that level of success I am able to create more opportunities like apprenticeships and grants for film students and those interested in becoming a film director themselves!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create films that look at human emotions and feelings and try to create conversations about those topics. Whether it be a serious topic of anxiety and mental health or trying to figure out what exactly is happening in a horror film with zombies at the very heart of it is the telling of a story with human emotions. I thrive off collaboration. My most favorite part of being a director and working in film is the bonds I am able to create. Working with actors to tap in to emotions and memories and bringing characters that are in my head to life is so beautiful and is a great privilege to witness. I am not afraid of creating art that looks at serious topics but I’m also not afraid to add a bit of comedy to a drama. I usually say “my life is a comedy” because even in the darkest moments I tend to find something to laugh at. I try to reflect that in my movies.

I am still trying my best to do this professionally. I have made short films and try to get them out there. Most are in my YouTube channel now. Some have been shown at film festivals and nominated for awards. But to me it has never been about the awards but the journey of making the film and the dialogue those films create. My short film “I’m Here” is about anxiety and panic attacks and I have been able to have so many meaningful conversations with people about mental health because of this film.

The challenge I face now is how I can get my foot in the door. I want to be able to work my way up in film production to direct and I have to start somewhere! I have experienced imposter syndrome, physical health problems like a broken foot, losing gigs for whatever reason but at the end of the day I try to surround myself with self with the best people that help me make sure I keep my head above the water.

I think what I want the world to know about my brand is that I make sure it gets done and is of high quality. I want everyone who works on a film I produce or direct to feel proud and to be inspired to continue to create. I don’t know what I don’t know so asking questions and learning from feedback is always important to me as a filmmaker.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok so I’m actually in Las Vegas, NV. I have only had the pleasure of being in LA a handful of times. I did enjoy the Academy Museum as it was quite inspiring and so amazing to see all the amazing prices on display.
I would say reaching out to connections made in the film world for a quick cup of coffee or a lunch is probably the best thing to do and always keep your eyes peeled because you never know who you might run into.

If I may say what I would recommend in Vegas is to find some nice local places to hang out. There is a really cool pirate dog themed bar called “Stray Pirate” in the arts district and while you are down there catch a show at the Majestic Repertory Theartre because they always have some unique show they are doing.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate this shout out to UNLV FILM. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is where I was able to learn so much about my passion of filmmaking. There have been so many professors that have become mentors to me including May May Luong, Andi Isaacs, Thomas Bjelic, and Adam Paul. Without them my life would look very different.

I also want to recognize my family and my friends who have always supported me through the best and worst moments.
