Meet Shell Enns | Music Producer, Mixing & Mastering Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shell Enns and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shell, what do you attribute your success to?
I genuinely believe in the artists I work with. I attribute my success to truly believing in the music I work on and giving my all to every project. Whether I’m working with established artists like Snoop Dogg and Dear Silas or with emerging talent, my attention to detail and willingness to evolve with the sound allow me to translate each artist’s unique vision into a finished product that resonates with listeners. That’s why clients keep coming back—and how I’ve built my brand through word of mouth.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart as a mixing engineer is my individual combination of emotional sensitivity with technical precision. I approach every mix not just as an engineer, but as an artist—pouring my soul into the music. I’m not just interested in making something sound clear or clean; I want it to feel right. I want it to impact the listeners.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is awesome. I feel like I discover something new or find a cool spot to explore almost every day! To me, some of the greatest things about this city as a creative are the places where you can connect with nature. When friends visit me in LA, I love taking them to the Sunken City in San Pedro or up to Angeles Crest for an incredible view of the entire city. It’s those kinds of places that help reset your mind and spark new inspiration.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
One of the earliest mentors who had a deep impact on me wasn’t even in music—it was one of my college soccer coaches, Doug Williams. He once told me, “Excellence is not a jersey you can just put on or take off. It has to be your lifestyle.” That mindset stuck with me. It taught me that who you are off the field—or outside the studio—is just as important as who you are when the spotlight’s on. That pursuit of excellence in everything I do has become a guiding principle in my music career.
I also owe a huge debt to the artists who have trusted me with their sound. Without their belief in my vision and skills—especially in the early stages—I wouldn’t have the career I have today. I carry that trust with a deep sense of responsibility and gratitude.
