Meet Rose Schneeberger | Volunteer/Activist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Schneeberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rose, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy is to see other people happy. I believe that when people are happy they are able to connect better with the world around them. Happy people are willing to give of their resources to create a better environment not just for themselves, but also for other people.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I retired as a Bank Examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Prior to that, I worked with the Small Business Administration and managed my husband’s law practice in Kansas for 15 years. We moved to California in 1997 when my husband received an appointment as Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration. We both joined Kiwanis International while we lived in Kansas. I am currently most proud of my involvement with Kiwanis International, as a member of the Kiwanis Club of Downey. I am the club’s Secretary and Chair of the Fundraiser Committee. I have held the positions of Club President and Lt. Governor for the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Kiwanis International. Volunteering with Kiwanis fills most of my life and I feel a great amount of satisfaction from seeing how Kiwanis affects the lives of children and youth around the world. I have encountered challenges during my 37 years as a member of Kiwanis; however, I have been able to overcome those challenges by focusing on the mission of the organization, which is serving the children of the world. I learned that if you starve negative experiences, and nurture the positive ones, your life is more fulfilling and you are able to become a happy and giving individual. I want the world to be more focus on helping others than to be worry about their petty complaints.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I would take them to Catalina Island for 2 days to enjoy the quiet and beauty of the place.
After Catalina, I would take them to see a show at Pantages. Next we will go for a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
Lunch at The Huntington Library, with dinner at Old Town Pasadena.
A baseball game at Dodgers Stadium would be a must. A tour of the beach cities would end the week.
Los Angeles has so many exciting places to visit. The music center, beach cities, the mountains, the dessert, just to mention a few.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
