We had the good fortune of connecting with Polina and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Polina, what makes you happy? Why?
Nothing brings me pure joy quite like being out in the world, fully immersed in the present moment. There’s something magical about exploring a new place—seeing things I’ve never seen before, noticing how even the ordinary feels unfamiliar and fascinating. Everyday clothing looks different from what I’m used to. The languages, the food, the customs, the ways of life, the beliefs and religions—they’re all beautifully diverse. And yet, somehow, wherever I go, the world starts to feel like home. That feeling fills me with a deep, simple happiness.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My focus is natural and travel photography—I love capturing landscapes and places in their most honest and beautiful light. For me, it’s not just about taking a pretty photo; it’s about showing the feeling of a place and inspiring others to get out and experience it for themselves.

What sets my work apart is the intention behind it. I try to keep things real and grounded, highlighting the natural beauty that’s already there without over-editing or staging.

The journey to where I am today wasn’t always easy. Like many creatives, I’ve dealt with self-doubt, lack of resources, and the pressure to conform to trends. But staying consistent, being open to learning, and genuinely connecting with my audience helped me grow.
I’m most proud of the fact that my photos have inspired people to explore new places or see familiar ones with fresh eyes. That’s what keeps me going.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my work, it’s this: you don’t need the most exotic destination or the most expensive gear to create something meaningful. Curiosity, presence, and passion go a long way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spot in the city is the Venice Canals — it’s the first place I take every visitor. I’m not into the usual tourist spots; I prefer exploring hidden gems that show L.A.’s energy and diversity. I even wrote a blog article about some of my favorite lesser-known places—definitely worth a read if you want to see the city like a local.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. I’m deeply grateful to everyone who’s played a part in my journey. From the person who first told me I had “an eye” for photography and encouraged me to start capturing the world, to every single follower who’s ever sent a kind message or liked my content. Friends, family, mentors, and my community online—you’ve all given me the motivation to keep going, especially during moments of doubt. This shoutout is for all of you. Thank you for being part of my story.
