Meet Monet Jackson | Artist of All Forms

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monet Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monet, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose to pursue an artistic/creative career path because in my perspective life is all about love and communication! Creating for me is genuinely my passion and a heavy part of my purpose.. it’s the space in which I am the most pure, innocent, genuine, intentional, and loving… it’s a space that I feel pure bliss, joy and freedom with no conditions… I’m also able to communicate through art emotions and concepts that I typically don’t know how to put in words at times… I chose an artistic/ creative path because art is the one language of the heart, mind, body, and soul that everyone speaks. Regardless if people see in my art what I see or feel, they are still left with a perspective, emotion, or thought process that is true to them and I love that. Through my creative abilities, I’m able to cater to everyone on their level of understanding and it often reminds me that although we are different, we all have something in common at some point in our lives… even if it’s just the appreciation of life itself!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Ahhh! My art! Growing up, I never thought I’d chose art as my profession.. but I also never took a step back to realize that all while growing up art is literally what raised me! My mom is a musician, my dad is an engineer, and my siblings all fall into an artistic category one way or another.. whether that’s music, comedy, writing, drawing.. you name it! I was surrounded by the arts growing up, however, I thought I’d be an OBGYN until I realized how much school that required! Nonetheless, I started college as a ballet major…I loved to dance and was also a competitive gymnast all throughout my high school years. I worked for Disney as a character performer for about a year and realized I did not want to dance professionally! I tried a few other majors while also working my way through college as a full time employee at Sephora. That’s when I realized just how much I loved being a creative! Not only did I enjoy expressing myself through makeup, I enjoyed my clients so much. Making women feel good about their innermost insecurities gave me life! My motto at sephora was not to hide or cover up their imperfections but to heal the insecurities that took away their power through skincare and makeup… well.. not only did I go in a journey to help them heal… but all along I began a journey of healing myself and that’s when I changed my major to Fine Arts! Through my journey, I lost myself… I was so broken on the inside and I allowed myself to endure painful circumstances that I should have never taken responsibility for. I learned through my art that and self expression that the only reason I was in a space of self defeat, depression, insecurity, and hopelessness was because I didn’t know Monet. I didn’t LOVE monet! It was so easy to put my energy into other people and other things because I was afraid to look in the mirror and address my own weaknesses. However, circumstance by circumstance… experience by experience… I began to see me, love me, and heal me from the inside out… I found my superpower. It wasn’t easy but it was so worth it. I moved to LA in 2019 after building a thriving career in my hometown jackson,Ms. although I was one of the best MUA’s there, I was empty and I needed to find out who I was away from all the noise and distractions. Once I moved to LA, my relationship with God strengthened in a way I didn’t know that it could… once again, it wasn’t easy… but instead of trusting the outside world I put my faith in him. I allowed God to truly takeover… there were so many times I fell short.. but through the years I have always found my way back at his feet! I learned through prayer and study that 1. love is truly the most powerful tool that we as people have at our disposal. 2. I am worthy of everything beautiful because I am intentional about being beautiful to others from the inside first. 3. Integrity and morals will take you further than you know. 3. Nurturing my inner self will allow me to be the best for not only me but everyone around me. 4. Saying no, is a superpower that creates boundaries for a healthy foundation of living. 5. If I shine a light that reflects God’s love, I will always be in alignment with my purpose, and from that blessings will flow. 6. Everyday isn’t sunshine and rainbows, but everyday is a lesson and a blessing. 7. I am a creator… with patience, vision, and discernment, I can shift any experience into a space of love, understanding, and gratitude. I want the world to know about me that I can do all things because that’s just how God has built me. There are no limitations as to what I can and will achieve in this lifetime.. whether it be for myself or others. I will try, fail, succeed, try fail, succeed.. over and over again as long as through my journey others are enlightened, inspired, uplifted, and loved. My paintings, my makeup, my creations are just vessels of my being! My brand is not just about what I do, what I sell, or what can make me money… it’s about who I am and how I can change the world to value love. Whether that be to love yourself or love others. My brand is the embodiment and ultimate reflection of what love can accomplish! What makes me different is the understanding and appreciation for life itself. No matter how easy or hard it gets, it’s a gift that I cherish with my whole heart! Being a creator, recognizing the power behind my gifts, and sharing that glow with the world will impact lives in a way that could change people not only for the better but for generations to come. My brand is a reflection of vulnerability and pure love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would first take my friend to Escondido falls in Malibu! A beautiful hike to start the trip ending with dinner on the beach..
The next day would definitely be an art day.. maybe yoga in the morning to set the vibes.. and then museum hop to see all types of art!
Later that evening probably karaoke at either the jungles or the juice joint!
The next day we would probably go to six flags or universal studios to Harry Potter world of course!
End the night at either Boa steakhouse or Korean BBQ
The next day would definitely be a shopping day in Beverly Hills and the Grove!!
And maybe a fun trivia night a Jays Bar on Melrose!
The next day I would take them to Inglewood maybe for some fun sight seeing and food at Woodys BbQ and of course to get donuts!
There’s so much to do in LA and I’m still learning of new places and fun things to do, but definitely reggae nights, hotel bar hopping, tea parties and of course the 24 hour spa at WiSpa

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out God first and foremost because without him, I would have no vision, no purpose, and no understanding of what it means to love! Furthermore, I would like to shoutout my family! My mom, my dad, my 2 sisters, and my brother! They are truly the light of my life! As an artist and entrepreneur it has never been easy, however, they have held me up and held me down through every step of the way. When my finances have gotten the best of me, they stepped in… when my heart was weary they gave me unconditional love… when I wanted to quit, they kept going for me until I found my spark again! When I had nothing, I had everything with them! They have inspired me and motivated me to be the best person I could be and always move in love… they are my foundation and a very strong foundation at that! They sow seeds in me that continue to blossom and I am just honored that God loves me so much that he gave me a family like mine!
