We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeff Pollard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeff, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
There were many reasons why I started my (marketing) business, but at the heart of it I truly like to help people. I live by the motto, “don’t make it harder than it has to be.” If you can help, then help. If you can’t, just be upfront about your limits. A lot of success comes down to simple communication. My YouTube channels HeyHeyJeffPollard and HeyHeySouthBay, along with my Instagram @JeffPollard11, are free simple marketing tools to help your businesses be seen further. You and I are communicating to the world about who you are and what you do. Over the years, I’ve been very fortunate to meet all types of people, from all walks of life.

My style is intentional. Many people feel nervous or hesitant to put themselves out there, so I use a simple 90’s style interview format that keeps it fun and stress free. This approach has helped me grow and promote the people I interview. It even led me to ShoutoutLA for Jeff’s sake.

You do not need a huge production to get noticed. You just have to be sincere – and that will show through. It does take a little elbow grease on both our parts, but that’s part of the fun. I have seen that even grown adults struggle to effectively explain what they do, let alone how people can contact them. My goal is to ease that process for you. I help you get seen, build confidence (if needed), reach a new audience, and get constructive feedback (if wanted), and much more.

If you’ve got a business, a passion project, or something worth sharing, I want to hear from you. It doesn’t matter where you are or how big you are. Reach out on Instagram at @JeffPollard11 and let’s put your story out there. Let’s show the world what we’re made of.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I couldn’t tell you what sets me apart from others. I just love trying new things and meeting new people. It’s a bonus when I can help them in some way.

I am very proud of my social media presence. It’s not crazy impressive but I built it from nothing with help from people throughout my life. It grew from me just posting anything to a structured and thriving platform that helps people in a positive manner. Creating something from nothing and getting people aware of it is not easy. I have a plan but it’s slow. When I started, I knew nothing about getting seen but I am constantly learning.

I have noticed some people seem to work harder not to help than to help. There is a lot of truth in hearing a hundred nos before you get that one yes. All the rejection teaches you what works and helps you spot when something is the wrong fit. Over time, you start to find your tribe.

I want the world to know that I’m ever growing and always open to advice, collaborations, and especially your follow. We can all rise together, just communicate what you’re willing to do. I promise I will do my best to pay it forward.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Support any mom and pop business. Try to keep it local.
But if you want specifics:
Redondo Beach Brewery and Jacks Pizza (Torrance) if you want to see how this guy ate growing up.
I’m a beach boy and tourist want to see the usual so that just means the beach and landmarks around LA.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Laika De Los Santos, Susan Pollard, and all the people I collaborated with. You either helped and never gave up on me or gave me hope to keep going.
