We had the good fortune of connecting with Latrice Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Latrice, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I believe in supporting, motivating and empowering other women. Encouraging others and helping them to carve out a path to success comes naturally. As I begin to think of ways I could increase my impact, reach more women and expand my influence, it became more evident that I needed to create my own platform, curate my own space. One day during bible study & prayer…I heard God speak to me! God told me to MOVE! And I knew it was time. November 2022, LJSPEAKS hosted it’s 1st Greatness is Your Journey Women’s Conference.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a born public servant and leader. I have spent 3 decades motivating youth, empowering women and uplifting community. I have worked in various administrative and management capacities, including City government, the non-profit sector, and currently for the County of Los Angeles. Its always a priority to balance my roles with being a mom first. I am most proud of LJSPEAKS & my honorary Doctorate degree in Humanitarianism. LJSPEAKS is my vision and creates a platform to empower women!! The honorary degree is a perfect marriage of my public service and advocacy of higher education.( I have earned a BA in Administrative Studies, and two Masters Degrees, one in Public Administration and another in Leadership.) If there’s one thing I want everyone to know about me, it would be that “I believe in the empowerment of others. Greatness is our Journey, if only we believe in the power of living in Purpose. I encourage all to walk in FAITH and never give up on yourself!”
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A week visit with me is going to include time at the beach, I love the coast. We will spend a few days in Temecula Wine Country, coupled with a few visits at local spas (no such thing as vacation without a massage & wine.) Sunday is for church and all you can eat champagne brunch. And of course gotta take time to support & take in the culture in Inland Empire, La County & Orange County.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When we talk about giving credit and thanking others for supporting me, the list isn’t small. I am grateful for my village, my parents for unwavering support, my sista circle for always showing up, my mentors for sharing their tips to success, family & friends who encouraged and showed me how to start my business, as well as build business credit and the Global Society of Female Entrepreneurs who have created a network of Female Entrepreneurs who are always fostering success among one another. But, I would be remiss, if I didn’t shout out my children Lauryn & Jared who believe in me, believe in my dream and are committed to my Journey to Greatness. They are not only my WHY, they are also my HOW!
