Meet Nathalie Moran | Tattoo Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nathalie Moran and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Nathalie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Art has always been a part of me, but the moment I got my first tattoo, it clicked. I didn’t just want to be around tattoos, I wanted to create them. Right out of high school, I bet on myself and started working out of my private studio. It wasn’t just about tattoos for me, it was about claiming my independence and building something of my own.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Tattooing is more than just art for me, it’s a form of storytelling. What sets me apart is the way I connect with my clients and the meaning I pour into every piece. I love creating tattoos that are personal and emotional, especially black and grey designs that reflect culture, identity, and memory.
I’m self-taught, and getting to where I am today took a lot of dedication, patience, and hustle. I didn’t have a mentor or formal training. I learned everything on my own through practice, research, and honestly from failure. It wasn’t easy, but the challenges only pushed me to work harder and trust my vision.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to stay true to myself and not compare my journey to anyone else’s. Everyone has their own path, and mine was built on faith.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, so I’d want to give my best friend a real local experience. Something that blends the old-school neighborhood feel with what it’s become now.
I’d start with a walk through Domino Park for views of the skyline, and just chill vibes by the water. Food is a big part of Brooklyn culture, so we’d definitely hit Sweet Chick for the best chicken and waffles, ot Joe’s Pizza because no trip to NYC is complete without a real slice.
Everyone’s drawn to Bushwick for the vibe and the culture. I’d walk around, hit a few thrift spots, and grab a good coffee while taking it all in.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to thank God! My journey has been guided by faith every step of the way. I also have to give a huge shoutout to my mom. Her love, strength, and constant support gave me the courage to chase my dreams.
I’m self-taught, and while that took a lot of dedication, I wouldn’t be where I am without the foundation they gave me.
