We had the good fortune of connecting with AlfonSo Caballero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AlfonSo, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always loved performing. Growing up, theater in middle and high school became my sanctuary—a place where I could express myself when I didn’t have the words. I’ve always been fascinated by people, and acting gives me the chance to step into different lives, bring characters to life, and share their deeply personal experiences.

My childhood was marked by hardship, including periods of homelessness, and performing gave me an outlet to process those struggles. It also gave me purpose. I want to inspire young people who look like me and have faced similar challenges, to show them that they can pursue anything they dream of.

For me, acting isn’t just about entertainment—it’s about connection. The arts are one of the few things people will always need and feel drawn to. My goal is to create work that makes people feel seen, heard, and understood, and to use whatever platform I build to help better the world and the lives of those around me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve only gotten to where I am today because of the people who believed in me enough to take a chance—whether it was a manager, an agent, or a casting director. My journey is rooted in my origin story: coming from humble beginnings and finding my way into the lives of people who have shaped me both personally and professionally.

I’m proud of every step of my career—every role I’ve earned, every moment I’ve had on television and in film—because each one has brought me to where I am today and will help take me where I’m headed tomorrow. I hope my story gives others like me the hope and motivation to keep chasing their own dreams.

Being part of The Pitt, an Emmy-winning show, was incredible. So was appearing on 9-1-1, especially getting to work alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt and Angela Bassett—two women I admired growing up and who continue to inspire me today.

Right now, I’m also excited about the projects I’m writing and producing, including a pilot I co-wrote with my wife that we recently filmed. It wasn’t easy, but that’s part of what makes the journey so fulfilling. Every step teaches you something new about yourself and the world around you.

I’ve overcome challenges by leaning on my relationships—people who have walked this path before me—and by giving back, aligning myself with movements and organizations bigger than myself. My story is a bit like that of an underdog: someone who came from nothing who’s always had a soft spot for superhero’s and comic books. So I do this for the kids like me because they deserve to know they’re superhero’s too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
This is a tough one because LA is basically a never-ending buffet of things to do—but here’s how I’d craft the perfect day. We’d kick it off with Cinespia in the summer, sprawled out on the grass under the stars, watching a classic movie with the city skyline behind us—it’s cinematic magic in real life. Then we’d wander through one of LA’s incredible comic book shops, supporting local owners while nerding out over rare finds and vintage treasures.

Next, we’d fuel up with a latte (or three) at Game N Grounds, a board game–themed coffee shop in the Valley where you can sip and strategize at the same time. From there, we’d escape the tourist-packed beaches and head up the coast to Malibu, finding a tucked-away stretch of sand for a more peaceful ocean fix.

If we did venture into Santa Monica, it’d be for dinner at Elephante—killer views, even better pasta. We’d add a little behind-the-scenes Hollywood magic with a Warner Bros. lot tour, then close out the night with piano sing-alongs at Tramp Stamp Grannies before laughing ourselves silly at The Comedy Store.

By the end, they’d get a taste of LA’s heart—equal parts glam, geek, and grit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m deeply grateful to my wife, my family, my friends, and to God. My wife has been my rock—believing in me even when the odds were stacked high. My friends have never stopped pushing me to grow, both as an artist and a person. And above all, I thank God, because without His guidance and grace, I wouldn’t be here today. I carry their love, support, and motivation with me in everything I do.
