Meet Malcolm Perry | Music producer/Content Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Malcolm Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Malcolm, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When it comes to why I started my own business, it really goes back to my upbringing and the influences I had as a kid. I was always drawn to people who built something from nothing and realized early on that the traditional path of school, job, and retirement just wasn’t for me. My parents both stayed in the same jobs for decades, which taught me the value of stability but also made me curious about freedom and creativity. I was inspired by entrepreneurs and mentors who carved their own lanes and created opportunities instead of waiting for them. Ultimately, starting my own business came from wanting to build something that reflected my vision, to innovate, take risks, and have full ownership of the work I put into the world.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart as an artist is that I’m unapologetically myself. I’ve always been comfortable in my own skin and unafraid to express what I think and feel, and that authenticity shows up in everything I create. I’ve never been afraid to question things or go against the grain, and that curiosity drives my creativity. When I make music, I trust my instincts instead of following a formula, which allows me to experiment freely and find new sounds.
I’m proud to say that everything I’ve learned has been self-taught. I studied business in school, but my real education came from teaching myself how to produce music, use DAWs, edit audio and video, and even do graphic design. I’ve always had a natural love for music and storytelling, so producing and songwriting became my creative outlet. At first it was just a hobby, but over time I developed my skills, gained confidence from people’s reactions, and decided to take it seriously as a career.
Breaking into the industry wasn’t easy. My first real opportunities came from networking and building genuine relationships in Atlanta and LA. In music, connections are everything, and I learned that “closed mouths don’t get fed.” Speaking up about what I do has opened doors I never expected. That’s been one of my biggest lessons—your talent matters, but your willingness to put yourself out there matters just as much.
At the core, I’m a creative because I love to create. I find inspiration in real life and I’m always eager to collaborate and learn something new. I’d do it even if there was no money involved because it’s what makes me happiest. My story is about passion, curiosity, and the constant drive to keep growing, both as an artist and as a person.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m all about food. I’m a big foodie and love using my content to highlight hidden restaurant gems around the city, so the week would definitely kick off with a food tour, and I’d also cook for them myself. My seafood gumbo is always a hit. We’d mix it up with live music at spots like Andy’s in West Hollywood or Blue Note for some jazz, then catch a rooftop happy hour with a view because LA has no shortage of those. Hiking is a must too since it’s the best way to take in the city. I’d plan a night for stand-up comedy at the Laugh Factory or The Comedy Store for some laughs, and since I’m a big golfer, we’d wrap up the trip either playing a round or hitting the range. It would be the perfect mix of good food, music, views, and vibes.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out my family. My parents support me in everything I do. I would also like to shout out my friends, my chosen family. They keep me grounded and also keep me motivated to keep going even through the rough times.
