Meet Monique Chavez | Founder & Creative Strategist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Monique Chavez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Monique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting Lost Media wasn’t a mapped-out plan; it just happened naturally. I’ve always loved storytelling, editing, and finding creative ways to connect with people. During Covid, I pulled away from the fast-paced industry and slowed down to rediscover what really inspired me. When I first began helping small businesses with their social media, it clicked. My years in the entertainment industry taught me how powerful it can be when someone’s story is told authentically. People had amazing ideas but didn’t always know how to communicate them in a way that felt real. That’s when Lost Media really started to take shape.
I’m super hands-on, from editing and copywriting to staying on top of trends, but I’m also really strategic about how I approach social media. Every post and piece of content has a purpose. It’s about building a genuine community over time while aligning creativity with strategy to support promotions and sales.
Lost Media started as me just doing what I love, and grew into a business that helps brands show up as their most authentic selves online.

What should our readers know about your business?
I’m most proud of making the leap and going for it. Believing in myself enough to build something from scratch still feels surreal. Lost Media started as an idea, and now I get to work with brands and artists I truly admire. My newest client is Pitbull, and I’m so excited to be part of his team — I’ve been a genuine fan for years!
I put in the work to get here, starting as a PA on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, then moving into the mailroom and working as an assistant at CAA before stepping into day-to-day management and content creation for artists. Those experiences shaped my leadership skills and attention to detail, but over time I realized I was starting to lose my creative spark and the purpose behind my work. I co-founded Her Music Club with my friend and industry veteran Kate Loesch, a women’s event series and blog that brought people together to connect, empower, and support one another. HMC reminded me of the power of community, connection, and building your own lane.
The biggest lessons I’ve learned are to always stay true to yourself, do the work, and don’t rush the process.
Lost Media is for your brand. I love learning a brand’s voice, and if it doesn’t exist yet, I love helping create it. I help build communities around each brand’s identity to create real, lasting connections between brand and fan.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My family lives in LA, and we’ve always had a special bond with The Little Door. Yes, it’s romantic and the food is amazing, but the people who work there have been part of our family for years. Going there always feels like visiting home.
To keep it short, we’d start with a morning hike at Griffith, then grab breakfast at Joan’s on Third. I’m also a sucker for Malibu Farm. If it’s the weekend, we’re definitely stopping by Silverlake Flea or Melrose Trading Post. I’d have to get ceviche at Holbox LA – to dieee for!! I’ve also been wanting to check out Café Tondo on a salsa dancing night or even during the day for some coffee — that’s definitely on the list. Jon & Vinny’s still has my heart, and shopping on Melrose is always a fun way to spend the afternoon. I’m also a Texas girl at heart, so HomeState’s breakfast tacos & queso will also always be on the list.
We’d probably visit LACMA, and see what film screenings or shows are happening around town. And, of course, Salt & Straw is a must… always.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Many beautiful & inspiring people have been a part of my story – my parents, my therapists, all the beautiful women in my life – but I’d like to shout out my husband, Jevon. Without his constant encouragement and our late night brainstorm sessions, I would’ve given up a long time ago. He’s always in my corner, and his belief in me has pushed me to dream big again!
