We had the good fortune of connecting with YVETTE MARIE and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi YVETTE, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I don’t necessarily plan ahead I like to live in the moment, but in a smart way. I moved to LA and New York with a very small amount of money and made a name for myself so I think that in itself was a huge risk. A lot of people would never do that but I just had faith. I had this invisible faith in myself and excitement for life and what I was doing so I took the risk and it turned out amazing. The people that I met the jobs that I did. I can’t focus too hard on risk you just gotta dive in.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My current projects as of March 2026 have kind of expanded into this simplistic style where I’m doing more sketching and drawing the tools that I use when I was in school like blending stumps and different pencils from dark to light incorporating shadows and light by just simple sketches, kind of bringing it back to a simplified version, but still combining my composition and my love for portraits and photography

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love going to El Matador is one of my favorite places that I think everyone should see because I’m such a nature nerd. I love the water the sun I love golden hour so much just attaching myself to nature then I would go to lunch probably at the treehouse Topanga restaurant that’s nestled up high in the mountains. Then I would hit some pretty stellar vintage shops. I like hitting all the nooks and crannies that not everybody knows about.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to say it like Snoop Dogg did I’d like to thank myself. Nobody pushes me harder than I do if it wasn’t for me, I would be paralyzed back in my hometown just thinking about trying to do what I’ve managed to do because I constantly pushed myself in really just have faith.
