Meet ILU | Singer, Songwriter, Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with ILU and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ILU, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
I define success by measuring the amount of intrinsic purpose and fulfillment felt. I think often times society equates success to big houses, fancy cars, a prestigious career, the spouse, the kids, etc. These things are definitely valuable and nice to have. However, I think there is a huge reason why people can have these things and still feel empty and unfulfilled in life. Success is creating a life that allows you to experience most moments with a feeling of joy, excitement, calm, and authenticity. It is a life where love is blossoming, blooming, and ever present. I define success as living a life that allows you to truly be yourself and do what you truly love everyday. This allows you to radiate a confidence, power, and eloquence that is contagious and sought after. When you feel that way in your own being you are able to fill the cup of others. Success is about living authentically, being of service, and enjoying community. My own personal vision of success is being a full-time artist who earns an extremely comfortable wage off of my music. My vision of success also includes being a wife to a loyal and loving man, owning my own home that looks like my Pinterest vision board, being financially well off enough to comfortably sustain my own ideal lifestyle while being able to give to those I love or those in need, and living life so fully that I regret little to nothing at the end of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the most proud and excited about the fact that I’ve really given music a lot of effort, energy, and passion for nearly a decade. The evolution of my music and presence is insanely evident and it is a very cool thing to have immortalized through sound. I am so proud of the fact that I have never given up on my dream and that I never will. I used to question if music was the right path and now I don’t. No matter what the outcome of my music journey is, music will have always been the right path. I’m proud to have seen it through enough to know that 100%. I’m proud to have found my purpose which is something most people never have the ability to do in their lives.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As I get older I have the most fun connecting one on one with my friends and loved ones in more intimate and calm settings. I would likely go to a ballet or intimate concert to see a band we both enjoy. I would show them a delicious pizza place called Two Saucy Broads in Fullerton, an amazing thai spot called Love2Eat in Hollywood, and to Avenue 26 Tacos in LA. I would also be sure to plan a movie night and hit the Huntington Library. The most fun, exciting, and interesting things or places to checkout are ones that make the world feel quieter and more like home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I dedicate my shoutout to my parents. I am so blessed to have a mother and father who love me and support me endlessly. We don’t see eye to eye on everything but regardless there isn’t a time that I have ever questioned their love and care for me. Without the stability and safety they have provided throughout my life I would not have been able to stand tall enough to take a chance on my dreams, on my music. I also want to dedicate this shoutout to the many individuals who actively listen to my music, share my music to others, send encouraging/loving messages, come to my shows, and truly want to see me win for no other reason than wanting to see it happen. You know who you are and I hope you know how much you mean to me. Lastly, I want to shoutout the numerous artists that I am actively working with in this era of my music career. Polaris, Fizzex, Karlos, Roan, Sol, and Killkase have contributed greatly to my ability to really step into an artistic era that feels like the most authentic and epic one yet.
