Meet Sabina Tenorio | Actress

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabina Tenorio and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sabina, how do you think about risk?
An artistic life it’s always intertwined with risks, my acting teachers would always say that you have to take high risks in order to be a great actor and I think it applies to everything in life. We don’t like ordinary, we like bold, brave and out of this world stories and characters, so why not apply it to life itself. You can create art anywhere in the world, but I decided to live everything I knew behind in order to pursue an artistic life. Leaving Mexico, my family, my friends and my language was a risk that I would take again without a question, I love being comfortable but I had to get use to new things, in order to achieve my dreams but also, to grow as a person.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As an artist and activist I can’t separate my values when creating art, I’ve always know the influence that movies, music, paintings or dances have in our lives so I always try to stay true in what I believe an being part of stories that change the world to make it a better place for all. It hasn’t always been this way, I had to learn to be myself without caring what others thought, other peoples opinions had a huge impact in how I viewed myself and it made me stop creating art because I felt ashamed for being so different from everyone surrounding me. Coming here to Los Angeles was truly a healing experience, being surrounded by people like me only empowered me to connect with myself again and fully allow myself to express my creativity. What I am mostly proud It’s my thesis project “Luz”, a short film about femicides in Mexico and Day of The Dead, which I am currently developing it into a Mini-Series. Coming from a country so rich in culture, nature and art but also violence and machismo it was important to me, as a woman and feminist, to give a message not only to my fellow Mexicans, but also to Americans since femicides are deeply connected to both countries, it was important to me to raise awareness by keeping the respect to all the mothers and victims but also honor my culture and the love I have for it, cause there is nothing I would want more in this life than my country to prosper and for women to finally be respected and free.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles has amazing spots in the city, but the Getty Museum has to be my favorite one, I love to admire the art, the building, the way up the train and the beautiful gardens. After the beach, this is my favorite spot to have a picnic with my friends, journal or read. We would have to make a quick stop at UOVO, my most recent obsession, it is by far the best pasta I’ve had in my life. Since we are in Studio City already, I would go to CityWalk to shop, enter real quick to Universal Studios maybe or end the day at the movies.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My parents deserve all the praise of my prior, current and future success, they are my biggest fans and supporters, without them I wouldn’t be here, I am forever grateful to have them in my life.
