Meet Shaun O’Brien | Composer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shaun O’Brien and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shaun, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
As a parent, I think making your child feel seen and heard is very important. To take time to talk one on one and be totally 100% present with them I think goes a long way.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Shaun O’Brien and I’m a composer based in LA. Just recently I released a special 10th anniversary remix project with my friend Michael Ude. You can check it out on Spotify and all the usual streaming and purchasing platforms under our side project name Ivry King x UDE. Right now, I’m mixing a live drum version of his “Paper” remix (featuring Mickey Keeley on drums) and working on a bunch of new cinematic cues.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them on some hikes up near Griffith Observatory and Runyon Canyon for a nice workout and great view of the city. The Bronson Canyon hike up to the bat cave is cool too. Having breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Beachwood Cafe is always nice – great food and atmosphere even just for a croissant and coffee. For drinks, I’d take them to Silverlake Lounge or Thirsty Crow in Silver Lake. Some smash burger spots like Burgers Never Say Die or Burger She Wrote are a must-try too.
