We had the good fortune of connecting with Mandy Bianchi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mandy, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my brand is authenticity, both with myself and my clients. I’ve had to be honest with myself about the strengths I possess and the weaknesses I need support with. No one is great at everything. I’ve found that by sticking to what I do best, and bringing on partners and staff to fill in the gaps when needed, I’ve been able to deliver on promises and grow my business fairly well in a short amount of time. I have to be transparent with my customers about realistic expectations, especially when it comes to budget talks. Being practical but always optimistic has worked very well in earning the trust and respect of my clients and peers, they are confident I will deliver on my promises because they know I hold myself and partners accountable. It boils down to this: being authentic builds trust with your clients, customers and audience. It is my opinion that trust in any relationship, personal or professional, is the backbone of everything. The sooner you can build trust, the sooner you can convert your audience into clients and customers.
What should our readers know about your business?
Bianchi Productions is an event design and production agency with a mission of inspiring love, light and positivity. What sets us apart from others is our ability to problem solve and adapt quickly while remaining calm under pressure and ensuring everyone has fun throughout the process. We also partner with the most talented and highly regarded creatives, entertainers, and vendors to ensure the success of each of our events. The enthusiasm that we approach each project with is only surpassed by the joy we feel when a client tells us how amazing their experience was and how they can’t believe we pulled it off. In the world of event planning, pulling off the seemingly impossible is a common occurrence. Having only been in business for a little over three years, I’m extremely proud of the reputation Bianchi Productions has built as not only a leader in event design and production, but also as a reputable source of information on the latest trends, technologies, entertainment, venues and happenings in the world of live events and brand activations. Running your own business, like anything, has it’s up and down sides. Besides the uncertainty of everything, as a small business owner you also have to wear many “hats,” so to speak: salesman, creative director, marketer, accountant, HR, customer service, writer, producer, etc. In fact often times you put on hats you never even knew existed! But for every hurdle, challenge, or lesson learned, there is nothing that compares to the excitement of a new project or the overwhelming feeling of joy when you’ve “nailed it!’ When you know you knocked the event out of the park and your client is over-the-moon, you forget all of the craziness it took to get there and get right back to planning the next outstanding event. Thanks to the overwhelming support of friends, family, colleagues and peers, it’s been an amazing three years in business and I’m excited about the road ahead. While Covid-19 has definitely had a huge impact on the event industry, and does still leave a bit of ambiguity, I’m confident we’ll be back and better than ever soon, and will remain adaptable in the meantime. Speaking of adaptable, I’m super excited about Bianchi Productions’ latest venture: specialty gift boxes. We’re in the process of building the website now and can’t wait to launch this fabulous new line of products very soon. Stay tuned for updates!
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had a friend visiting Los Angeles for a week, I would be thrilled to show them an “insiders look” at the city, the way I enjoy it. I’m a huge fan of physical activity and the outdoors so we’d definitely spend a day or two at the beach doing all of the quintessential things: bike riding on the board walk, catching a few rays while burying our toes in the sand, taking a surf lesson in Malibu, people watching at Venice beach, enjoying happy hour on one of the gorgeous rooftops SoCal has to offer while witnessing a beautiful sunset, and so on. Hotel Erwin in Venice is one of my current faves for beachside rooftop hangs. Another day we’d have to experience Hollywood the way the locals do, from Runyon Canyon! After a nice hike we’d head down to Hollywood Blvd. to see the Walk of Fame, perhaps visit Madame Tussauds, then walk across the street to the Hollywood Roosevelt pool for some refreshments and good vibes. That night for dinner we’d go to Gwen Butcher Shop & Restaurant, the second restaurant from fine dining Chef Curtis Stone, and one of our favorite Aussies. And finally for a night cap we’d head over Skybar on Sunset and enjoy the chic poolside lounge. Downtown Los Angeles and LA Live is another area I’d love to take my guest to. There perhaps we’d catch a concert or sporting event at Staples Center after enjoying a nice sushi dinner at Katsuya. Following the concert, our options for a nightcap would be infinite in this area, but I’d suggest heading over to the boutique Hotel Figueria to round out the night at their gorgeous mid-city pool. What I love about Los Angeles is the variety of activities, neighborhoods, and cultures we have access to within a relatively small radius. Playing tour guide is a luxury and I can’t wait to do it again soon!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The most influential person in my professional story is the woman who hired me for my first event planning job. Cheryl Cecchetto was a vivacious Canadian actress moonlighting in catering when she fell into the role of a lifetime, producer of the Emmy’s Governors Ball. She accidentally became a small business owner and I followed in her footsteps nearly a decade after getting my start with her award-winning event production company. While there were many important lessons I learned from Cheryl, ie. the importance of balancing work responsibilities with family and self-care, the most impactful by far was the standard by which all people should be treated. Cheryl dealt with CEO’s and clients the same way she did with cleaners and waitstaff (with dignity, respect and kindness), and demanded that her staff do the same. After beginning my career in entertainment and seeing some of the uglier sides of business, it was poignant to witness a person in a position of power holding themselves and their employees to a higher standard. And with remarkable results.
