Meet Thomas Barsoe: Owner, Founder, and Executive Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Thomas Barsoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Thomas, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Thomas Barsoe’s Response: My vision was to create a safe, creative ‘music Mecca’ for artists, singers, songwriters and producers to collaborate and express their talent and art. I also wanted to be part of a culture and community and, unlike most recording studios, hidden away in a boring industrial parking lot somewhere, OC Hit Factory is part of a trendy, urban ‘boutique’ mall, where you get foot traffic and people can come sing and record as something accessible and fun to do, much like going to the movie theatre or the bowling alley! And that’s exactly how I believe this generation of aspiring, young artists, want a modern recording studio to be. And judging by OCHF’s success and popularity, it looks like I was right… 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Thomas Barsoe’s Response I have never ‘played it safe’ my entire life! I’m very much an ‘all in’ type of person so when I decide to go for something, I go into it with 110% commitment and passion and there’s simply no way to stop me, no matter how many obstacles and bumps I meet along the way. I never believed in having a ‘plan B’, as it makes it too easy to quit the pursuit of your dream, in my opinion. To make it as an artist in the music business, you have to be very thick skinned and be willing to work insanely hard and be prepared to get disappointed and knocked down many, many times. Your ability to get back up again is what ultimately defines you and determines if you have what it takes or not. As well as a natural gift of course. But talent alone isn’t enough.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thomas Barsoe’s Response: OC Hit Factory has made it possible for talents to pursue music, who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to. We make music, singing, songwriting and recording accessible and affordable plus we offer opportunities that has never been an option before in Orange County, being the only studio to host auditions for American Idol, The Voice, America’s Got Talent, The Four, Making The Band as well as annual showcases for Disney, Nickelodeon and Dreamworks. We are also extremely connected with all the top major record labels, publishers and agencies in the industry, through my 25 years in the business, as an artist,songwriter, producer and manager.
