We had the good fortune of connecting with Renata Meirelles and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renata, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought has always been to think about the values that we can take people when our priority is to be generous, innovative, and to understand that the value is in relationships and in the way you behave with the world. I have always tried to bring social values to my company BLACK3, and I have always treated my clients as friends, because at the end of the day, my work is part of who I am, and we need to put this into practice on a daily basis. Honestly, there are several ways to make a business a success, but I have no doubt that in all these ways, the essence and the love that you apply it, inside and outside, will always be your differential. 

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started very young at the age of 14, in audiovisual, which has always been a very difficult market for us women. From an early age I had to deal with this difference, and understand that it would not be easy. With that, I aroused a desire to learn many things, because without realizing it, this was a demand that the world put on me – because you are a woman you always have to be proving something. But with that I was able to develop more skills, and when I started my company, in addition to being able to do my job with excellence, I was able to share part of my knowledge with the other women who work with me, increasingly increasing our female community. What I learned in these almost 15 years, is that nobody does anything alone, and that we should always try to learn and share everything, because here is a journey, and that we should enjoy it in the best possible way. I have no competitors, I have partners, life is not a competition, we can collaborate with everyone, be generous, and grow hand in hand with customers, employees, and friends.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Los Angeles, everything here is a dream. My favorite tour for sure is sailing from Kaiak with a friend in the waters of Malibu. There is where I reconnect my energies, and certainly being close to the sea is a gift.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be able to mention a single person, but all my friends who always reach out to me with great generosity, during these 14 years I was able to meet incredible people, who dreamed of me. Everything I win is not mine, it is ours. Thank you God, and thank you universe.
