We had the good fortune of connecting with Noah Fontaine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Noah, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson that I have learned so far in my career is that you HAVE to be your authentic self. Your own light shines through so much brighter then one that you “think” you might be. Own who you are. Take time to learn things about yourself. Being Transgender, I have to check in with myself all the time to make sure I am still where I want to be. Is it hard at times? Oh you bet- but absolutely worth it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Acting as a transgender person is a wild ride. As a Nonbinary person, I don’t fit into any of the “normal” boxes. I’m not female, so I can’t audition for said roles, and I’m not male- so I don’t fit in that box either. Finding out how to market yourself as a nonbinary person is still rather new to me to be honest, but I’m learning. Finding the happy medium in it all is one of the toughest parts about transitioning for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love who I am becoming, I just hope the rest of the world sees it too.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a photographer, I love to be outside, with that- we will definitely be going to the beach. The great thing about living in LA is you can drive up the coast for hours seeing a bunch of different beaches in one day. Being able to even go to the mountains then back to the shore is still wild to me (I’m originally from Rhode Island). I am also a huge roller coaster lover, so I would definitely be dragging a friend to one of the theme parks we have here. And for food, Monty’s Good Burger is the way to go!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I huge shoutout to everyone who has helped me transition over the past couple of years. Anyone who donated to help out with my top surgery and everyone who has been nothing but supportive. Kate Coleman is my rock and I love her every second of the day for it. She’s patient, warm and kind, and I appreciate her more then she probably knows. The best girlfriend anyone could ask for. Allison Fox and Caroline Sucharski for always having my back and being my hype team. Thank you for loving me and pushing me to be my best. I owe you all.
