Meet Lucas Aaron: Musician, Singer-Songwriter & Recording Engineer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucas Aaron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucas, what inspires you?
I am inspired by creation, that next moment of inspiration, usually coming in the form of writing a new song. It’s that spark and sense of excitement that drove me as a kid to not stop strumming away on the guitar.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and recording engineer. I grew up playing music starting with drums around age eight. As long as I can remember, songs were always what drew me in. I remember always wanting to write songs and would scribble poetry in notebooks and scraps of paper, trying to combine words and melodies. In my teens, I picked up guitar and was instantly hooked. All I wanted to do twenty-four hours a day was play guitar and write songs, it’s still the same today.

With so many different types of artists, musicians and even genres, I have always felt strong about being true to myself. I find it important to strive and be the very best songwriter I can. Honesty tends to be the key, but it can be terrifying putting yourself out there for others to judge.  Especially in the world of art, it can feel naked, but the reward is that any audience or listener will be able to tell you are truly being sincere. This pursuit led me down the road or recording, my second love only to songwriting and perhaps a noisy guitar solo. I have found that being able to present a song the way you intended is just as important as songwriting itself. Which is why I have a somewhat obsession with the process of recording. Taking a song from it’s initial idea and molding it into its final form is incredibly rewarding. Nothing worth doing is easy and that definitely rings true for songwriting and recording, but the end result of having music you are proud of want to share with others means everything to me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Sadly because of the world at the moment, we can’t, but we can always look ahead to a time when we can show our friends around. Living in Hollywood, I would take a friend from out of town to Beachwood Cafe for some great breakfast to start the day. Next, head to Griffith Observatory to take in some of the best views LA has to offer.  After that, would be one of my favorites stores, Record Parlour for some mandatory record shopping. Lunchtime would take place at Doomies Home Cookin’. They have the best food you’d never even know was vegan. On to dinner, Sushi Stop in Franklin Village is a personal favorite. Lastly, to end the night we would head on over to Harvard and Stone for some music and drinks. 

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Thanks to the records my parents played me as a young boy to ignite the spark and love of music. In terms of being a solo artist, I couldn’t have done it without the support of my Moon Girl, Genesis who encourages me to never stop. I’d also like to give a shout out to Gulcher Records for releasing my first solo album as well as Joel Tyler Wall and Green Door Studios for their continued support in future releases and pushing me to work harder.
