We had the good fortune of connecting with Trent Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trent, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My wife and I founded KILOGEAR CUT several years ago to address a simple need. How could we turn the body into the gym and help time-deprived adults, athletes and youth get fit faster and more safely by simply changing what they wear on a day to day basis. KILOGEAR CUT is the most advanced premium weighted performance gear and apparel in the world. There has been non=stop innovation on monitoring the body, but very little in terms of impacting the body. We constantly test our gear with third-party testing groups and have refined our gear and apparel through the years. We have optimized the designs of the gear and the levels of load and resistance. Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a former military officer that transitioned into the business world of technology and innovation. I think my time in the military was crucial in forging a mindset of success through intelligence, hard work and perseverance. It was also critical in helping me understand the need for teamwork and interconnected responsibility. You learn that the life is a series of tests and challenges. Learning to learn quickly and adapt is such an important lesson. Learning to keep my eyes on the mission, while maintaining flexibility on the details was important in my growth. My life as a technology executive allowed me to learn to implement many of these lessons into a real business environment. I was fortunate to have lived in Japan and later in London, UK as a business leader. These seven years of living abroad allowed me to expand my mindset in dealing with different cultures and teams. Building multinational teams helped create a different perspective on business and how things get done. KILOGEAR CUT is an amalgamation of my wife Megan and my passion for applying technology and innovation to the human body. Helping others become the best versions of themselves is our goal. Health and wellness is vital for all of us. KILOGEAR CUT can be an important component to ones health and fitness regimens. We have lowered the bar to better health and fitness by simply putting on our doctor designed gear and get moving! We are focused on impacting many of the great macro health issues facing society. We even work with the disability community. We have even had great feedback about our gear from families dealing with autism. Our years of research and development can be used as your new “life and fitness hack”, and a part of a healthy lifestyle. Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My family loves roaming around Los Angeles. Such a diverse city, with so many treasures. We are active, so we love hiking Griffith Park and Runyon Canyon and then checking into the LUX hotel from some R&R. Whether you are a family or couple of any age, the staff and food is great, they have a great rooftop pool paired with unique spa and wellness activities for guests. We also love biking to the different seaside towns like Hermosa, Venice up to Santa Monica. Every visitor should check out tinsel town. Before the pandemic, we enjoyed taking visitors to Paramount Studios or reserving tickets to a live show. Since the pandemic, we’ve really enjoyed the Drive-In at Santa Monica.
