We had the good fortune of connecting with Karla Amador and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karla, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite quote is, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.” attributed to Henry Ford. I think having a positive mindset is one of the most important things we should cultivate on our journey in life. I truly believe that what we think, feel, say, plus our actions, create our reality. If you think you can’t do something, how can it possibly manifest? Versus believing there is a way, even if you don’t exactly know how. I also like learning and practicing the Law of Attraction, which is the same concept. In order to be successful in life and business we need to adapt a “can do,” and “figure it out” mentality. Finally, one must take the steps into the unknown, with faith that what we desire can happen for us.

What should our readers know about your business?
I actually always wanted to be my own boss. I guess I’m a bit of a rebel… What I’m most proud of is that following my intuition has taken me to some incredible places in entrepreneurship. I haven’t got it right all the time, and there have been many failures, but, each of those failures have been steps that have helped me to do better next time. One of the biggest things that I had to do was to transition into being a doer, instead of just speaking about my ideas. Once I started seeing the results of my efforts, it made me feel good and my businesses started growing. (I currently own two companies.) I have learned the most from the day to day in entrepreneurship; setting up processes and procedures, training staff, setting up the systems that automate certain activities, delegation and so much more. It’s been quite a journey, and you have to wear many hats, but the freedom to create and serve others, is what keeps me going. Now I have the biggest blessing of running an organization, 52 Hike Challenge, that truly makes a difference in peoples’ lives and that keeps me motivated to show up everyday.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Gosh, of course we would go out hiking and maybe even camping. There are so many incredible places to explore in Los Angeles! I would set up a morning of hiking in Griffith park followed by brunch at Alcove Cafe. I would also most definitely take them to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area for a beautiful hike with a packed lunch from Mendocino Farms. For camping we would go to Leo Carrillo State Park, which is in the Malibu beach area. Other cool things might include 3rd street restaurants or the Grove. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many people that have helped me in my journey, but the most impactful would have to be my fiancé and co-founder Phillip Stinis. Phillip inspired me to get outdoors, which led to the creation of our movement, 52 Hike Challenge, and my continual growth as a person and business owner. Thank you Phil.
