We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Artin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always identified myself as someone who was “searching” for themselves. It spanned all areas of my life, from my relationships to my career and it was excruciating. I had even earned the nickname “the Forest Gump of the Feminine” from my friends because I had been a job gypsy for so many years. Whether it was working at Hooters, managing doctor’s offices or starting an events company, I was endlessly seeking my place, my purpose. It was when I landed my first role in the entertainment industry that it all started to come together. My ability to be flexible in different environments and meet expectations under varying circumstances made me an asset. I climbed the ladder quickly, going from riding around with friends in beat up cars to flying on private jets with top tier celebrities. After almost a decade of production, talent management and so forth, I was introduced to a female movement and empowerment class that turned my world upside down. I decided to train full time as a teacher while still holding down my full time entertainment gig. In my exhausted haze of bouncing back and forth between these two worlds clarity came calling. I spent half my days working for a world-renowned mysogynist and the other half my days learning to empower women. I could feel my soul being sucked as I drove to claim my me-too infused paycheck and I felt it surge with life as I stepped back into the power of empowerment. The rope snapped and I left the certainty of my high-flying, high paying career for the uncertainty of supporting women swelling into their greatness. Another decade later, I found myself having become the creative director of this global female empowerment company while also becoming a master teacher and teacher trainer. However, the more I learned there, the more I knew I needed to know more if I was going to step into my calling to help as many people as possible TRULY heal in their body, mind, heart and souls. Countless licenses, degrees, certifications and life lessons later, I still feel the same drive to grow to towards that goal, which makes me certain I have tapped my purpose. Everyday my deepest desire is to serve whomever I can, whenever I can, however I can. Little did I know, that my wildly “lost” beginning was all in service of precisely where I am now “found”. My life was set in motion so could help others with theirs.

What should our readers know about your business?
While many refer to what I do as life coaching, teaching embodiment or a variety of other skill sets, I see it as so much more. I don’t feel compartmentalized in my approaches because I believe everything is interconnected. You can’t remove the soul, mind or heart from the body or vice versa. I believe the soul is WHY we are here and the body is HOW we are here. They can’t be separated. Furthermore, we will experience the fulfillment we crave when we let the body serve the soul that chose it WHILE being aware of how our minds and hearts either support or interrupt that process. One of my favorite phrases to tell my clients is “own it, or some else will” – which means we are either uncomfortably squeezing ourselves into someone else’s truth or confidently creating our own. It comes down to knowing that the soul and body cannot lie, only the mind and heart can. This means we get to choose what we experience in each moment and thereby over time. Often as children, our choices are overpowered which means as adults we have some work to do in taking back the reigns. This has broad implications mentally, emotionally and physically that often requires remodeling and rewiring across the board when desiring a stronger sense of self mastery. The best part of what I get to do is partner with my clients. I am not there to stand above them and diagnose them as broken or to stand behind them to enable false beliefs. I get to stand with and for them knowing they are divinely designed and them stepping further into their fullest potential is not only possible but is paramount. I know this because it’s my story. I suffered tragic losses very early on. I was bullied. I was in abusive relationships. I jumped from one operating table to another trying to carve myself into someone who would feel more loveble in her skin. I shoplifted, over-intoxicated and put myself into massive debt all trying to fulfill from the outside what I thought was missing on the inside. Even though I have seen countless therapists since I was 5 years old (and I do think they have tremendously value), it wasn’t until I experienced coaching that everything internally truly shifted. Not only did everything in my private world shift, my public world did too, because I went ALL IN on coaching to pay-it-forward and I see no end in sight!

Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I would definitely head out to Terrenea in Rancho Palos Verdes. It’s where I was married and we revisit quite often. That resort is parked on the edge of the pacific and it’s absolutely breathtaking. When out that way, the local beach town vibes are great for a solo excursion, romantic hang or family fun. When we aren’t in a cover crisis I am such a Disneyland junkie! I just went with a group of friends for my 40th birthday (Without my kids….!!!) Really any amusement or carnival situation makes my soul light up! A friend of mine started a really cool local LA event called Street Food Cinema, which during covid has become a Drive In theater experience at the Americana. It’s an awesome local event that involves many of my favorite things including good entertainment, yummy food and cool people. I am gluten-free, and a pretty clean eater, so I am always looking for restaurants that cater to my food-style. For years I have been a huge fan of Hugo’s restaurant. They have a couple locations but I am a valley girl so you will usually find me at the one in Studio City!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Demartini Institute. For those of you who aren’t aware of Dr. John Demartini and his method, hold onto your brains! This man has researched and developed a scientific behavioral method for personal mastery that I am willing to bet will win the Nobel prize. I am a licensed facilitator of his method who has studied with him for several years and can safely say, of all the work I have been exposed to over the years (A LOT!), this blows everything else out of the water. So I don’t muck it up…here is how they describe the method on their site: The Demartini Method® is a breakthrough discovery and cutting edge personal transformation methodology which results in a new perspective and paradigm in thinking and feeling. Developed by Dr. John Demartini, it is the culmination of more than 44 years of research and studies in numerous disciplines including physics, philosophy, theology, metaphysics, psychology, astronomy, mathematics, neurology and physiology.
