We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela O and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angela, how has your pespective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I learned about work life balance the hard way. When I started my business, I worked non-stop. I was either designing products, making products, or selling products. It got to a point where my mental and physical health suffered. I was always exhausted, stressed, anxious, and felt out of shape. I became fed up with feeling crappy all the time so I decided to make a change. A friend of mine recommended yoga, so tried it out and was hooked! I soon became part of the conscious community and found more ways to practice self care. I now make time for meditation, cooking healthy meals, and relaxing. I’ve learned to slow down and listen to my body. This helps me feel grounded, present, and clear every day.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Over the years, I have become aware of how the human race is impacting mother earth through consumerism. I personally made huge shifts to live a more sustainable lifestyle that is better for the environment. I am so proud to be part of the conscious movement to impact what, and how, we consume. Rambler Handcrafted is on a journey to reduce waste by using only remnants, scraps, and recycled materials to make accessories. Each product is truly unique! As the world shifts into more sustainable practices, I am constantly researching and learning new ways to improve the brand. This is an ever evolving process but I am motivated to make a positive impact on the planet. There are many ideas on the horizon so make sure to follow @ramblerhandcrafted on Instagram to see what’s in the works! Change is the only constant in life, let’s make a positive change and restore mother earth’s health through sustainable living.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Los Angeles is a city with so much to offer–you could literally go out every night and fill your excitement cup to the brim! I grew up in LA and used to explore the city often. My life is a bit more mellow now but I do have some favorite spots. Activities include: driving along the PCH (with the windows down and music blasting), Hiking Runyon Canyon/Griffith Park, Yoga (vinyasa flow and yin at any great local spot), Salsa Dancing (El Floridita in Hollywood), Live Jazz Music (The Federal in NoHo). I usually cook at home but I do enjoy: Urth Caffé (try their Rumi Latte) and Neptune’s Net (in Malibu). I always like to finish an active week with some self care: Massage and sauna time (WiSpa in Koreatown).
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shout out to my mom and grandma! They have been such an amazing support system for me throughout my whole life–but especially in the last few years of starting my business. They would bring me food when I would forget to eat, come to my events to watch my booth so I could use the restroom, console me when I would break down into tears from overwhelm. I mean, I could go on! They motivate and inspire me daily and I am so blessed to have them in my life.
