We had the good fortune of connecting with Ashe Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ashe, is there a quote or affirmation that’s meaningful to you?
Wow yes, my favorite affirmation is “All is well” my name is Ashé which means all is well in Swahili. I love my name & I live by it. I believe what ever is going on in the world or in my personal life no matter how difficult the situation might be that I will get through it and it is only temporary.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Fashion Stylist based in LA. I have been styling for 6 years but I’ve been running my own styling company for about 4 years seriously & I absolutely love it. I have styled or assisted for many different types of wardrobe/fashion styling gigs. That ultimately helped me decide what part of the styling Industry I would like to work in. I’ve recently decided I really enjoy e-commerce styling & freelance styling. Right now I am doing freelance styling through my styling company Looks By Ashé Taylor. Looks By Ashé Taylor is so fun! Having my own styling business gives me the freedom to be creative & sometimes plan my own photo shoots vs working under someone else and following their vision. Once I graduate college I plan on doing both freelance & e-commerce styling. Over the last 6 years of being a stylist I’ve learned so much. One of the biggest lessons is consistency is key & make sure you always make connections. Networking and marketing yourself is a major key. Every job you work make sure you get at least one contact. Right now my business is taking a shift. I am working on being more client based, offering more services within my business like personal shopping to my clients. I’m also working on relaunching my Reselling business that will be directly connected to my fashion styling business. My reselling business is called Shop Looks it is Heavenly focused on sustainability. Through Shop Looks people will have access to shop pieces of clothing from my styling wardrobe. Everything is coming together well so far and I can not wait to share with the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am a LA native & I love it here! I also love a great brunch, happy hour, a great view of the city & shopping more specifically thrift shopping. So we would have to go all over LA. We can start off with a Sunday brunch at Sweet Chicks on Fairfax. Then visit the melrose trading post at Fairfax High school for some vintage/thrift shopping. Some of my favorite happy hours in LA are Prank, Tin Roof Bistro, & a happy hour with a great view is Perch in downtown LA. Some more great places to thrift are Goodwill (always), Buffalo Exchange, Jet Rag on Sunday’s for $1 Sunday’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are SO many people that have inspired me throughout my journey as a fashion stylist. First I would like to thank my parents for believing in me & always being down for whatever I want to do creatively. Without their support I would never be able to pull of everything I’ve done so far. Next I would like to shout out my college FIDM for pouring into me & giving me ample opportunities in my field. Those opportunities help me realize very early on that fashion was really what I wanted to do. Lastly I would like to thank my best friend & business partner Suede Williams. He is the first fashion photographer that pushed me to start my own business & helped me grow. I appreciate that so much & it’s so hard to find someone who genuinely believes in you & is willing to help you grow without anything in return.
