We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Burgio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I’m fascinated by the power of crystals and have found that in a world of chaos they can be a wonderful tool to help ground ourselves and raise our vibration. I’m very particular about the stones I choose. I also have a ritual that clears and charges them before they leave my hands. I see the world as energy and it’s always been important that I put out good vibes. And that really was the inspiration to start making high vibrational jewelry at SoulshineLA. I recently started incorporating copper because of it’s amazing qualities. Not only does it enhance the properties of the crystals that surround it, it’s also is wonderful for grounding, which is something we all can use, especially in these days of technology where life can move so fast that it can be a challenge to stay present. Just think…if everyone was more present and operating from a place of positivity, the huge shifts we could see in the world. That’s something I want to be a part of!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I absolutely love collaborating! It’s very fulfilling to work with an individual to find the perfect stone and style for them. It’s my greatest joy to be able to involve them in the creative process and create something meaningful. For me personally, making jewelry is my favorite way to quiet down and get centered. I started doing it just for myself, simply because I enjoy the process and find it extremely therapeutic. The business took on a life of it’s own as people started complimenting my pieces and asking me if I had any for sale. To be honest, it was becoming an expensive habit and I was beginning to gather a lot of pieces so opening up an online shop made perfect sense. The beautiful thing about this work is it’s no pressure. A lot of my day to day work is actually in the entertainment industry, which allows me chunks of downtime. So I break out the gems when I have the time and inspiration. And I’ve learned to take my ego out of the process. I don’t get too hung up on what’s selling and what’s not….and that is very freeing. It’s my ideal form of artistic expression and amazingly enough, it all ends up being perfectly balanced.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So many things I love about LA! The best way to start the day is with coffee and pastry at Gjusta in Venice. Next up, there’s a great hike in Malibu at the top of Corral Canyon, sweeping views of the ocean and a landscape that offers beautiful rocks, caves and a labyrinth. For lunch, the yummiest tacos you’ve ever had at Mar Vista Grab and Go, plenty of variety for the meat lovers but if you’re into plants like I am you’ve gotta try the Butternut/Corn nut and the Broccoli/Mushroom/Almondaise. I also love a bike ride along the Venice bike path, a bit touristy but it’s a great visual of the diversity that is LA. I love to stop at the skate park when the veterans are out with their boombox. If you time it right, you’ll also be drawn in by the rhythm of the drum circle. For dinner, hands down it’s Crossroads Kitchen in Hollywood for plant based deliciousness! Throwing Axe’s is awesome fun at Mo’s House of Axe. And when I’m in the mood for a wacky night of hilarious entertainment, I always get a good laugh at Scot Nery’s Boobie Trap. And last but not least, I love to top it off with an old school picnic and a good bottle of vino while watching a concert at the Hollywood Bowl.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
That’s easy. Jenell Renee of Sacred Wings. She is the one who really helped me strengthen my spiritual journey and opened my eyes to the power of crystals. I have always been drawn to them but I didn’t know why. She’s someone I have grown to trust and rely on whenever I need a little extra health and wellness support, An amazing intuitive healer who emanates so much love, I dare you to try to not fall in love with her.
